Germany has the largest natural gas storage capacity in the EU and the fourth largest in the world, after the United States, Russia and Ukraine. Statistically, the total storage capacity could, at present, supply the whole country for 80 days on average.
LNG tankers is an alternative. UK used LPG tankers for 8% of last year’s gas supplies via shipments of LNG, mostly from Qatar.
The global liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker fleet encompassed a total of 642 vessels at the end of 2020. Between 2010 and 2020, figures steadily increased. With LNG trade volumes reaching 431 billion cubic meters in 2018, greater number of tankers are paramount to satisfying growing consumer demand. 11 May 2021
