Musk twitter takeover blocked

Twitter Inc.'s shares plunged by 20.45% to trade for $35.86 in the premarket trading on Friday after Tesla Inc. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk revealed the plans for his acquisition of the social media company have been placed on hold.
The decline in the shares' price came after Musk tweeted that the talks about the deal are "temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users."
Earlier this week, the company also announced it is pausing hiring any new employees after two of its executive officers left their posts.

The United Kingdom's gross domestic product (GDP) noted a quarterly rise of 0.8% in the first trimester of the fiscal year 2022, the Office of National Statistics (ONS) said in its preliminary report released on Thursday.
On an annual level, the figure went up by 8.7%. In comparison to the period before the start of the COVID-19 at the beginning of 2020, the level of quarterly GDP was 0.7% higher.
Output in general saw an advance in this quarter, with services going up by 0.4%, production output by 1.2%, manufacturing by 1.3%, and construction by 3.8%.

UK economy shrank 0.1% in March

The UK economy contracted in March, with GDP falling by 0.1%.
That’s slightly worse than the 0% growth forecast, and will fuel concerns that economy is weakening.
The GDP report also shows there was no growth in February.
February’s GDP has been revised down to 0% growth, down from the +0.1% first estimated.
