The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the United Kingdom surpassed 200,000, the Office for National Statistics announced on Wednesday. By the start of July, the number of fatalities reached 200,247, according to official data.
In the week ending July 1, 412 deaths involving COVID-19 were registered in the UK, representing 3.5% of all deaths, up from 2.8% the previous week. Infections continue to rise, with 3.95% of the population of England estimated to have coronavirus, compared to 4.93% in Wales, 5.36% in Northern Ireland, and 5.94% in Scotland in the last week of June.
