Berlin will join Washington in supplying an additional Patriot air defense military battery to Ukraine, the White House revealed in a joint statement following the telephone conversation between US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday.
In accordance with the statement, both countries intend to deliver combat vehicles to Ukraine, with the US providing Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and Germany planning to deliver Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Kiev, with both countries offering training to "Ukrainian forces on the respective systems." The Associated Press earlier reported citing sources that the Biden administration will likely unveil a $2.85 billion-worth weapons package on January 6.
The day before, French President Emmanuel Macron pledged to deliver combat tanks to Ukraine during the conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Defense to introduce a ceasefire "along the entire line of contact between the parties in Ukraine," starting from 12:00 Moscow time, January 6, until 24:00, January 7, the Kremlin press service revealed on Thursday.
The order was given following the "appeal of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, I," the statement noted. Due to the fact that many are celebrating Orthodox Christmas, Putin called on "the Ukrainian side to declare a ceasefire and give [the people] the opportunity to attend services on Christmas Eve, as well as on the Day of the Nativity of Christ."
Kiev is yet to answer the aforementioned requests.

Hospitality sector - the Propel daily news email today contains alarming news for trading in Dec 2022 for late night bar operators - a flash survey of 200 nightclubs and bars shows that revenues were down 20% on pre-covid (Dec 2019). That’s going to leave many struggling to survive in 2023. This whole sector looks really grim at the moment, with reduced demand colliding with much higher costs (especially wages and energy). It’s difficult to see much changing any time soon - the days of generous Govt support measures seem to be over, and disposable incomes seem likely to remain under pressure. So I think we need to brace for many bars going bust in 2023, and the ones remaining just hoping to gain more market share in a smaller market. It's far too expensive to eat/drink out these days, in my opinion. Hence I'm very worried about this whole sector.

China is the home of Apple's primary factory that produces the iPhone 14 Pro.
As a result, the tech giant's market capitalization dropped below $2 billion for the first time since April 2022, standing at approximately $1,982.63 billion at 1:01 pm ET.
Apple's shares decreased by 4.19% at 1:01 pm ET to sell for $124.4900.

Cineworld (LON:CINE) (3.4p - mkt cap £46m) - the extended death of this company continues. It's obviously bust, with a vast debt pile, created by reckless acquisitions. I don't understand how the shares continue to trade, despite the company repeatedly telling the market that there's little to no value in the shares, as it confirms today - "As previously announced, it is expected that any restructuring or sale transaction agreed with stakeholders will result in a very significant dilution of existing equity interests in Cineworld and there is no guarantee of any recovery for holders of Cineworld's existing equity interests." It looks to be an almost certain 0p in my view, so people gambling with the shares now are taking on a lot of risk.
