Sullivan: Russia never included Navalny in prisoner swap talks18 Mar 2024 20:52
United States National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan said on Monday that Moscow never included late Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny in the prisoner exchange discussions with Washington.
"If this is something they were interested in, certainly sounds like they are coming to it too late since he is no longer alive, because we did not hear that from them," Sullivan stressed during the White House briefing. The security advisor also reaffirmed Washington's commitment to securing the release of former American marine Paul Whelan and Wall Street Journal correspondent Evan Gershkovich from Russian custody.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin shared that he agreed to a prisoner swap which would include the late 47-year-old politician.
