Judge denies Trump's bid to delay hush money trial8 Apr 2024 23:10
A New York appeals court judge declined former United States President Donald Trump's request to delay his hush money criminal trial set for April 15 amid his efforts to move the case out of Manhattan, The Associated Press reported.
The judge made the decision Monday, a week before jury selection was scheduled to start. Trump's defense wished to postpone the trial arguing for a change of venue to move it out of the "mostly Democratic Manhattan."
Trump's lawyer Emil Bove stated that the former US president, being the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, faces "real potential prejudice" in Democratic Manhattan, arguing that due to this, the trial "cannot proceed in a fair manner."
