RE: The race for tin RMR v AFM17 Feb 2026 11:04
1. Mpama North (The Flagship)
Status: Producing since mid-2019.
Grade: The world’s highest-grade tin mine, with an average grade of approximately 4% tin (Sn).
Output: Produces about 10,000 tonnes of contained tin per annum.(2022)
Contained Tin: 121,400 tonnes.
Life of Mine (LoM): Approximately 10 years as of the 2022
Resource Extensions: Ongoing drilling (the "Deeps" project) has identified extremely high-grade zones at depth, including intercepts as high as 21.75% Sn over 14.4m.
However current production has ramped up volume...
2025 Total Production: The Bisie mine complex produced a record 18,576 tonnes of tin-in-concentrate in 2025.
2026 Guidance: The company targets approximately 20,000 tonnes of contained tin for the full year 2026.
If we predict...
10kt 2022
12kt 2023
14kt 2024
18kt 2025
20kt 2026
assuming no new resource added then 74kt of the original 120kt will have been mined by the end of 2026 leaving 46kt, or approx 2.5 years worth before they run out at Mpama North, MPAMA south could add another 4 years (see below)
2. Mpama South (The Expansion)
Status: Entered production in May 2024.
Grade: Roughly 2% Sn, making it the world’s second highest-grade tin mine.
Current Mineral Resource (as of 2022/23 updates):
Indicated: 0.85Mt @ 2.55% Sn (21.5kt contained tin).
Inferred: 3.42Mt @ 2.45% Sn (83.7kt contained tin).
Production Goal: Designed to increase the Bisie Complex's total annual output to 20,000 tonnes (with potential for 25,000 tonnes)
