Either way, its just to declare you are not a US/Canadian citizen and dont have to pay any tax to those countrys.

If you are not trading oht of an ISA account you will be subject to UK CGT on any anual gains over £12,500 and would declare via a self assessment form at the end of each financial year (if sold, not if you still hold)

I’d strongly recommend setting up a stocks and shares ISA if you are plying with anything more than 3-5k as theres a good chance you’ll be over that 12.5k, and why pay tax when you dont have too. Note ISA has a max £20k input limit per year, but all gains and withdrawals are unlimited and tax free
