Bp has taken the final investment decision (FID) to build a 100MW green hydrogen plant at its refinery in Lingen Germany.

Supported by funding from the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) programme, the plant could produce up to 11,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year, for use in bp’s own refineries and other industrial customers in the region.

The project will also be connected to Germany’s planned 9,040km hydrogen core network.

Renewable energy to power the plant’s electrolysers will initially be supplied through an offshore wind power purchase agreement.

With construction scheduled to start in 2025, bp expects to commission the plant in 2027.

“This decision is very good news for bp and for the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy in Germany,” said Patrick Wendeler, CEO of bp Europa. “Lingen Green Hydrogen is an example of bp’s disciplined and strategic approach to investing in hydrogen projects.”

It comes after the oil major revealed that it had stopped developing 18 early-stage hydrogen projects, amid its focus on higher return projects.

A third Russian tanker has reported it has been damaged after two other oil carriers spilled oil in the Black Sea after incurring damage from a storm.

According to Russian media reports, the Volgoneft-109 sent a distress signal on Tuesday, reporting cracks in its body. The vessel is carrying fuel oil, the reports noted, adding that there were no signs that the cargo was leaking.

On Tuesday, the Volgoneft 212 and Volgoneft 239 sustained serious damage as a result of a storm in the Black Sea, running aground in the Kerch Strait. The Volgoneft 212 spitl in half. The market has voted via sp on their view of the board.

But I don’t think there is anyone there to fight to change the board.

The big shareholders so far have been fairly quiet.

The market has effectively put BP in play any time the sp is below £4.50-£5.00.

So that’s most of the last 5 years

But so far nothing.

Think February is key, after that the big boys just might get rough.

Something needs done or the London Stock Exchange
