What EAF151 Means for IB Neuro™ & Bevacizumab Decision-Making in Recurrent GBM
EAF151 (Abstract), a prospective phase 2 clinical trial (33 sites, n=146), was designed to evaluate whether dynamic susceptibility contrast MRI-derived relative cerebral blood volume, or rCBV, could serve as an early imaging biomarker of response to bevacizumab in patients with recurrent GBM.
This is especially important because bevacizumab can produce imaging changes that make conventional MRI interpretation more challenging, including reductions in enhancement that may not represent the true underlying tumor biology.
In the EAF151 analysis, IB Delta T1 maps were used in all exams to identify true regions of contrast enhancement. Then, IB Neuro computed both normalized and standardized rCBV metrics. While both were shown to be significant, standardized rCBV (exclusive to IB Neuro) demonstrated a stronger statistically significant overall survival signal, while also offering the clinical advantage of fully automated and more consistent processing.
For clinicians, the takeaway is clear:
When treatment decisions are complex, qualitative imaging alone may not be enough.
IB Neuro translates DSC-MRI perfusion data into objective, consistent and reproducible metrics that can support:
Earlier insight into treatment response
More informed bevacizumab decision-making
Standardized rCBV analysis across MRI platforms
Automated workflows that reduce manual post-processing burden
Greater confidence when conventional imaging is ambiguous
In recurrent GBM, timing matters!
