Another buying opportunity?

It seems to me that the full windfall effect of Sterling's fall against the $ has yet to be fully reflected in AHT share price. They are a major beneficiary, and if the new level of £ is the new 'normal' then earnings will be structurally higher going forwards. For me, this would make technical analysis less useful in that it's largely backward looking and by definition ignores new paradigms.

Spot on 123. From 2015 R&A : "The majority of the Company’s revenues are denominated in either US Dollars or Euros whilst the majority of its operating costs are in Sterling. The Company is therefore exposed to foreign currency risk due to fluctuations in exchange rates." So it's not even a case of simple translation. Their costs are in £ and their revenues are in $ and Euro. Expect the weakness of the pound to have a materially positive effect on earnings. When the market understands this, the stock will rise strongly IMO. GLA!

...obviously feeling good about purchase below, and frankly upward move makes sense. Aside from the long term fundamentals being good (new factories about to come on stream in US and China), they're a significant earner of foreign currency which when translated back to £ should create a nice profit windfall. I won't be reducing till about £3.20! Anyone else ever look at this Board? Guess I'm just talking to myself then....;)

Ha, but no problems since. Big $ earner combined with defensive earnings pushed this to a new high! Sweet!!

...end to the week. Stock like benchmark with lots on non-UK sales, and defensive markets should be flying, but instead, someone has taken the update as a reason to sell out, and hasn't traded it very subtly. Patience still required on this one....

Continues to do its job as a BREXIT hedge, and still not an expensive stock at these levels. I look forward to the reverse profit warning......!

Possibly, but I think we're going to see a pull. back in this stuff first - there's been some big rises and there's a still a great deal of uncertainty!

Agreed! What I'm not sure about is their FX exposures, but I assume they'll have some non-sterling exposure which should help!!

....and guess what that means. For the first time in 7 years or so, the banks are going to have to write to all their clients with tracker mortgages. And guess which Company has the most to gain from UK banks needing to do a load more printing - earnings upgrades on the way, take my word for it! And the stock is already on a single digit multiple! Remember, you heard it here first folks....

I agree with you. Potentially dragged back by the bribery issues currently surrounding Companies like Petrofac perhaps?

Agree optrade - I think this should be a nice long-term burner, and the 7% income along the way will certainly provide comfort on the event that the recovery takes a bit longer than we would ideally want.

Honestly, you trader-types. I sometimes wonder how you even get dressed in the morning - it's the black shoes, no, the brown ones, or should it be sandals? Polo shirt and shorts, or dress shirt and suit? Red tie green tie blue tie? And then when you take one step out of the door you change your mind again. Arrrgh - what a life. (just joking...:) )

Also, it's not an exporter as such - it actually operates in each of the countries where it has exposure - hence no downside from poor trade negs. Overall, I'm a very happy holder at this level, and in these circumstances.

Hello my 'Benchmark' friend LO - My previous target was £18, but I have to admit, things for the UK retailing market look tougher now post BREXIT. I'd carry on holding at this level though, with a £16 target for end year!

So JMO, Monday it was 'logical it will go lower' and yesterday it's clearly oversold despite being about 8% higher, and today you love it... What's your view going to be tomorrow I wonder.....;)?
