RE: Morocco FSRU28 Apr 2021 16:23
FSRU are basically LNG tankers which mostly have been converted to use there storage tanks onboard to generate power ashore. The LNG onboard which is stored in liquid form at -160 degrees uses the boil of Gas (BOG) either in boilers or gas turbines to produce enough power for a near by city. The FSRO around the world in certain ports, take LNG cargo every 1 or 2 weeks from normal LNG tanks to top up there tank. There only a couple of LNG floating storage vessel now in action, one in Australia which has the capability to reliq the gas down to liquid and storage onboard. This vessel cost shell billions, and already proven not very cost effective. If there LNG in the ground, then there has to be a reliq gas train which need to convert the gas to liquid form. Egypt can not plan to build any FSRU, these all come from convert vessel either from Singapore / Korea or China. There only a couple of companies out there, which operate FRSU, its a very small business.
