Try and sell them. See what happens. If you can't answer those sort of questions yourself then should you really be 'investing'. Try the casino, you may make more money that way.
RE: my holding on jarvis today states 'takeover'...2 Jul 2019 12:18
Same here. Nice to see my portfolio in profit though with it being taken out of that! Not getting my hopes up on this at all. News has been nothing but negative.
What's the point in selling to them? The difference between 0 and almost 0 isn't worth the hassle. The risk in waiting to see what happens and potentially getting 0 between selling to the shorters for almost 0 is so small. Then there's the risk of selling to them and it coming good. I know which one would make me want to jump off a bridge!
It doesn't make sense to close a short now unless you really are worried about something... For us LTHs all we can do is wait and see. If it does come good, shorters could be screwed. If it doesn't, then all we have lost is what we put in...
Pyro, they've already technically been paid when they 'borrowed' the shares and sold them. Normally they'd have to buy those shares back to replace what they borrowed. If a company closes down, they don't have to do that.
Whilst i am not a fan of shorting, it is a legitimate part of trading and i hold no ill's towards them. However for me, the risk far outweighs the rewards in doing so. When shorts start getting closed is one way of seeing when a stock may start to turn upwards.
For a shorter to close their short, they need to BUY shares... Offloading would mean they are shorting even more which results in SELLS... If they were offloading in a panicky way it would mean they are desperate to open shorts...
