Avon awarded UK Ministry of Defence General Service Respirator contract worth up to £38m

CBRN respirators for all branches of the UK's armed forces to be supplied from Avon's Melksham facility, boosting UK's sovereign CBRN protection capability.

We are pleased to announce that Avon Protection has won the tender for the continued supply of the General Service Respirator ("GSR") and associated in service support for the UK Ministry of Defence ("MoD").

Avon has been supplying the MoD with GSR masks since 2018 and this new contract award will enable Avon to continue to help protect the lives of people serving in the UK Armed Forces, sustaining the UK's domestic CBRN protection production capability.

The contract, over four years, with five further 12-month option periods is valued at up to £38 million.

This one was a cracker at one point and then a long term hold as I added and averaged down. Got to breakeven 4 times and then a tumble again but never give up. Some well timed adds and trims but in this longer than hoped but many similar successes allows the carry trade.

UK is bid city at the moment and why not here too?

Thanks - balanced portfolio so there will always be a PFC or an AVON but never nice. Still, not over and usualy a way out or a way to recover as yet paper losses.

My positions built up to 60k holding at one point so of course I trimmed on the way up.

Now holding 38k still with a minus average cost (5 figures), so 38k holding and cash in excess of 5 figures for trading WG. over several years.

For the record I trimmed some more today at 197.

Super opportunity to buy back tomorrow if the results go pear shaped or sell more if not.
