NFC successfully completed their Due Diligence studies at the end of 2019 and the intention is to establish a formal joint venture arrangement.

So unless something has changed in the last week or so, we are still on track

This week, so we should either get a RNS of the JV or an extension of the MOU.

They’ve had 3 months to agree it, considering their DD concluded December last year.

An hour and a half on energy security and barely any mention of coal power.

Just one brief mention by a guy representing the energy ministry of an extension of Bara.

My concern is that while Bangladesh is governed by political dinosaurs who are only interested in giving themselves a pat on the back we could be banging our heads against the wall for a long time to come.

Personally I think the entire Bangladesh government could do with being replaced by a more forward thinking and more educated generation.

Largely done by lawyers so yes the CV might impact somewhat but no reason why it should be delayed for too long.

Still think they will announce within deadline myself.

12 April deadline for the JV and yes I’m sure CV has put a spanner in the works somewhat, but I fully expect the JV to be announced next week.

Missed this but the latest RNS actually confirms that GCM are in formal liaison with the Bangla government about this project, does it not?

Our recent progress can be measured by the fact that:

1. Working under the joint-venture arrangements with internationally renowned PowerChina (Power Construction Corporation of China Ltd), we have completed the full Power Proposals covering an initial 4,000MW. These documents were prepared to the Bangladesh Power Development Board's requirements and will be presented as two 2,000MW Phases, installed in succession, to suit the production ramp-up of the Phulbari coal mine.

It’s not surprising, but still nice to see it confirmed in black and white.

Expires 12 April so likely we will receive some news on this over the next few weeks.
