Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Hello and thanks, Origin!
POQ's announcement reminded me that I need to have a look at this great board again.
I'm really excited to see things moving forwards - and upwards.
I hope that the Brunner and Russenberger related selling will EVENTUALLY stop.
dprussky, I'm pretty sure that even if there would be oil in the Beetaloo, it won't be extracted as the O&G majors are increasingly shifting to natgas production plus oil production in the Beetaloo is most likely just too expensive.
Last year, Australian researchers developed a groundbreaking technology for water purification: Graphair.
If they can scale it up, the Beetaloo water problem is solved.

Water resource selection and optimisation for shale gas developments in Australia: A combinatorial approach
Australia has significant quantities of technically recoverable shale gas and the potential to become a major producer of natural gas from these unconventional resources. However, the hydrocarbon extraction process from shale formations involves heavy drilling and hydraulic fracturing. Both these activities consume a considerable volume of water, which impacts local communities and the environment. This paper proposes a combinatorial methodology that incorporates multi-criteria decision-making and system dynamics to select the best water resources, and then investigate the regional impact of consuming those resources over the long-term. The methodology is described through a case study on the Beetaloo Basin, Northern Territory – a prospective shale gas resources deposit. The results show that the produced water and fresh groundwater are appropriate options for the basin, and appropriate scenarios can prevent the over-extraction of fresh groundwater, maximise the reuse of water, and minimise aquifer disturbance. The proposed methodology is designed to support petroleum companies when making decisions about which water resources to use in shale mining operations to balance various factors affecting the system.

Origin presentation on the Kyalla at AEGC 2018
Could the Mesoproterozoic Kyalla Formation Emerge as a Viable Gas Condensate Source Rock Reservoir Play in the Beetaloo Sub-Basin?
Conclusions:
- The lower Kyalla SRR has reservoir storage capacity properties making it a highly prospective SRR play.
- Geomechanical properties indicate the lower Kyalla SRR should be conducive to successful hydraulic fracture stimulation.
- Due to lower expected drilling costs, a lower Kyalla SRR development could have significant cost advantages over a middle Velkerri SRR development case.
- Calculated LPG and condensate yields of the reservoir gas phase within the Kyalla SRRs, has the potential to considerably improve the economics if a liquids stream can be effectively produced at surface,
- In the event of a successful lower Kyalla SRR test, the possibility of a ‘stacked’ play development along with the underlying middle Velkerri SRR is possible with infrastructure sharing synergies, reduced regional footprint and allowing a greater portion of infrastructure to be centralised at a lower cost.

"The Australian and Northern Territory governments have signed an agreement that will help realise ... the potential of the BEETALOO SUB-BASIN AS A NEW WORLD-CLASS GAS PROVINCE."
That's great news to start the year. Thanks, Mirabeau!
Dear all,
the tone on this board is getting rougher since months. When I read the comments, I just don't understand why we have to insult each other. To disagree does not entail that we have to attack each other, right?
Please respect each other, voice your opinion and don't attack others just because they have other opinions. If you are frustrated with your life, think about it and do something about it but don't insult strangers (ie members of this board).
Thanks, Marsh
WetWater, thanks for your thoughts.
You say that:
"Some people seem to think Falcon's share price will play into this post appraisal bidding - I completely disagree. These big major companies will be bidding for appraised asset value of the proven reserves and contingent resources - what they bid will have absolutely nothing to do with the share price of Falcon."
If this is true, it's a great explanation for the low share price.
„sinking ship“ ?!?!
Why not call Falcon the TITANIC of the gas explorers? :-))
Ok, some believe that they are on a sinking ship (Poods, bigones - nope he is on that deep sea submarine), some believe they own extremely promising stocks.Time will tell who is right. But till then I ask all members of this board to treat each other with respect. Thanks, Marsh
@Poods: How would a Victor-robs-us-all work? How could he get our stocks or Falcons share of the Beetaloo?
10kj, Art Berman makes similar points but in a less fruit caky manner.
Art and Mr Fruitcake say that US shale oil is too cheap and that decline rates of new wells is getting steeper. This does not worry me it all. Au contraire, thats good for us. One competitor less.
Btw: The Trump Show recently eliminated another competitor: Iran.
