The inhaled therapy is for IPF AND IPF induced cough so an additional treatment and cough reduces risk as the therapy has already demonstrated a proof of concept.

If Shionogi is not the Japanese partner for 002 shows the interest in Japan for 002 is strong.

The other name on the cough list that was interesting is Merc. Merc developed the original complex structure of what nxp001 was derived from and is now being considered by a global pharma for cancer cough.

A quick count today I came to 32 trades (62 shown by lse) with net sells of 33k shares, not many and a fall of 9.5% ? Hardly deserved. Strong buying Friday 450k and 440k up 2.5% not consistent.

This share not only has four valuable assets ie how does a big pharma invest to develop new product lines this company is not impacted by the current situation. It has few staff no reliance on sales effected by movement of the general population. So a defensive stock also.

Of course if it takes $1bn for a new drug and NXP have 001 and 004 in the oncology space and 002 in the fibrosis space it does make you wonder.

Interesting Redx have just proposed a new drug for IPF proposing phase 1 later this year according to average timelines it takes 11 years from phase 1 results to get a drug to market and many millions.. it has a higher NAV than NFX and lost £6m last year. Do we know a company with an IPF drug that could get to market faster is at break even and cheap?

NFX have started to update their website although it is not yet complete this is one sentence for NXP002

Goup as you know NXP001 was originally developed as a treatment for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting ("CINV"), I seem to recall in interviews that Dan had said Merc had undersold the original drug. The most successful was liscensed to Ono Pharma in Japan for market size had taken a large part of the global sales of $700m. Dan also said in interviews that NXP001 in a variation was an answer to cancer cough and a Global pharma was interested and in early discussions. This would be a different direction but the market is huge so much larger than CINV. But early days. Interestingly both Merc and Roche are interested in this area one is the original source the other represented in non-exec cv’s.

What are the chances that the lead Japanese IPF ‘buyer’ asked for exclusive negotiations if not they are exposed as there does seem to be a demand for IPF in Japan.
