Char and Venus.. yep, it sure is closer. The problem however is that if the Venus-1 unlocks Namibia as a new oil frontier, no matter that Char is closer, they will hold a Yale key to a Chubb lock. The prospects sit at the depths above the regional seal. GBP on the other hand will hold a Chubb key to a chubb lock. I have added Char to the list with ECO, PCL, Azinam and so in with those shallower prospects. All promising only a couple of years back but now left with complicated lateral migration issues above the regional seal. The seal.. it’s a big deal as it runs from Angola to the north to South Africa in the south. Now unless nature said nope, Namibia will be left out at the borders than clearly it’s all about prospects below that seal post Cormorant and Brupadda. The info is out there. This is great news for GBP but bad, bad, bad for many others including Char. I do take my hat off to Char though, at least they had a go at drilling in 2018.
