PANR and GGP looking at a good week. For those that were asking a tip. I have held CSN for years. The best consistent dividend to balance a portfolio with AIM being corrupt as it is. Rugby now.

Hopefully back on the well soon. IF CBL is good ran on wireline . Does not only tell the top of cement but also how much cement is around all the liner. As we drilled at 51 degrees the liner would lie on the low side, We run centralisers on the outside of the liner so the cement goes all over the outside. Could be a great week!!!!

Hopefully news this week and CBL is done so they know where Top of cement is. Hopefully at around 4000 feet from surface on the liner. Completion is run to surface. It is not cemented. Testing to start on lowest zone. Using the Nabors rig?

The surface casing was set at 3500 feet TVD and cemented.. That is set with a casing hanger and Packoff at surface in a wellhead.. The BOP is put on and tested.

They drill out the casing shoe. The bottom drill 10 feet of new formation. Mud weight is 10 pounds per gallon simple again.

Close the BOP and put pressure on the well. How much can the formation take at this point? Usually the weakest as it is not compressed as much as deeper down. In this case this was an amazing figure so maybe they could go to 11ppg without worrying about overpressure on the formation . Drilled all the way 6000feet with 8 inch drill bit and stayed within that parameter. No low pressure zones and everything was perfect.

Any low pressure zones and the mud could just disappear a bit till column balances out. Never happened.

So lets get back to mistakes I made yesterday

I have never heard of a liner ever been run this far with this much reservoirs.

The liner was set at TD. Cemented. The liner hanger would have been set at about 3200 feet so inside the casing....

The liner is set on drill pipe unlike casing onshore. So 3200 feet of drill pipe and 6000 feet of liner approx.

To cement the liner Cement and water mixed by the cement unit. All weighed and volumes taken. Pumped down the drill pipe into the liner below. So in this case enough cement to cover the whole annulus up to the 4000 feet from surface. OUTSIDE the liner.

Simple enough we have the size of hole we drilled and the outside diameter of Hole 8 inches liner Outside diameter 5 inches. How much cement do I need to fill that space???

Say 100 barrels of cement to cement the hole lot back to 4000 feet from surface. OK so we have 100 barrels of cement in the pipe. Now we drop a dart with a cement head. Called a subsea launch onshore. Then change over to mud to push the cement down the hole and into the annulus.

When that dart hits the bottom of the liner a pressure increase is seen on the drill pipe basically telling you the cement is in place out of the liner. We know how many barrels we need to displace the cement and how many strokes and barrels each pump puts out.

They knew while drilling and logging that upper zone was there... I would think the way it was drilled and so far they cemented the top zones so could test them. Cement calculations are great in a perfect diameter but not always right.

Alaska geo, Have they cemented up to where you are asking. The CBL will have told them.

Alaska geo is correct. I am wrong on that one. They will have worked out the volume of cement all the way up the backside of liner . So CBL will tell top of cement. Years since I got this far on a well. Drilled them and never got near this stage.

OR they could have cemented all the way back to 4000feet. Then each zone as they go up would be well isolated from lower zones. Thinking on my feet here and drinking beer. Is that a song?? Backtracking here. Think geo could be right and Tony would have done that???

Apologies the cement is mixed with water. To more than the mud weight in the hole. Not mud used to weigh the cement up. Cement jobs are crucial. BP and Macondo failed to run a Cement Bond Log. Look what happened there!!!!!!!!!!

Pure powdered cement. Mixed with the mud and pumped down well and up the outside of casing or liner. Big silos on the rigs/ Cement and Barite to add mud weight.

Every time they finish testing Set a plug or/ and squeeze cement in the perforations. Move up and same again. They can test it all without doing anything. Just draw a vertical well and see what you would do with those figures they gave in the RNS. It is not complicated on a piece of A4.
