RE: History19 Jul 2019 16:44
I was already invested in some junior mineral explorers (notably, BEM and BAO). When my first nephew was born (July 2011), rather than buying him the usual dull **** like baby grows, or wooden building blocks or something, my preference was to invest in a company that was listed at the same time as his birth, and let them grow together, hopefully to generate him a little fund to learn to drive from, or a beer kitty for university. (Sidenote: Gratefully, I managed to get out of both BEM and BAO at breakeven)
There were about 3 new companies that fit the bill, one tech, one financial services and one mineral junior. The two other companies sounded really interesting, but with a history and understanding in mining already, and some absolutely glowing research on the company background, and more importantly the BoD, I chose to invest in this Australian Jack the Lad called Dave and his iron and manganese exploits across Africa.
I started out at £250 worth at 4p a share - all set aside for Alfie.
