The thing which has always been at the back of my mind regarding VLS is the political dimension. Is the UK government really going to let domestic SAF production go to the dogs, thereby putting us entirely at the mercy of overseas suppliers? I could be wrong, but my feeling is that they won't let VLS fail, and if push comes to shove, they'll bail 'em out.

I know what you mean, Drax. We should beware of the false dawn. But the flip side is that it can be dumb not to jump on a train that seems to be picking up speed. I sold a lot of my VLS some way back. My small remaining position was down by about 70% last week. But when I saw the rally, I did double my position yesterday. It's still a pretty small position, but right now I'm heading towards break even. If this rally is based on some mega news which is not yet released, or whatever, then VLS is a stock that could potentially go rocket-ship.

Anyone know what is going down here? Last time I checked (like about a week ago) my small remain position was down by about 70% Today I check in and see a significant rally. In fact I bought some - which was already in profit by the end of the day! Great. But...on what is this based exactly? Confusing...

Not great.... But as MyrtleMan says, the stock has been this low before... Might be worth a punt with risk capital if anyone wanted to come back in?

VLS has been a complete clown-show in recent months. But if the UK government got behind it it could still go places, IMO. In fact, someone entering (or re-entering) in the 1-2p range could be looking at a pretty quick 4x or 5x in the event of any concrete good news.

Meh, if and when SAF %-quotas kick in (and then start escalating) it's likely there could be shortages. Big airlines could be almost literally fighting to get the stuff wherever the can...?

Thing is, Garry, they are almost inevitably going to dismiss complaints from folks such as you or I as the parsimonious wittering of a Colonel Blimp type investor. If you want to rattle their bars hard, you need a line of attack that is (how may we say?) de nos jour. Write to 'em saying you're from BLM and that you take massive offence at a leadership which is "pale, male and stale!" Oh yeah. Then you could smuggle in some actual criticisms too, before suggesting that you and your fellow activists are coming around to their HQ to do a sit-in protest. That'd get their attention! :-)

Investors long VLS are getting a kicking right now. But it could be far worse Draxy Babes. We could be Huw Edwards. And then we really would be f***ed!

Amidst all of the anguished wailing (which is perhaps understandable to a large extent?) there's one thing I can't get out of my mind: guys like Ruffer are still backing this!!

There are those who, rather hilariously, suggest this is all some kind of a mad punt. Well, you know what? I don't think that's how professionals roll. I think they have deep and extensive research, and make very calculated decisions based on that. Nothing is certain. Of course it isn't - otherwise everyone with half a braincell would strike gold every time. But, on balance, I'm inclined to think that the whole situation most probably is not anything like as dire as the hysterical Victorian Aunties' brigade seem to believe. (Obviously usual rules of risk management apply: nobody should be too deep into this.)

MM, Just imagine if a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed newcomer came along who has the effing B411$ to buy big precisely now while the SP is in the toilet. That, mon cher, is who could get rich if the government gets the heck behind this, if things move, and the SP goes Cape Canaveral on us...

It'd also be a final indignation for the muppets who got shaken out after months and years of frustration, and who would then be left open-mouthed and red-faced, watching their spineless loss turning into someone else's exponential gain.

I dunno Jzchat. At the current sp even just one really juicy news drop could send this back to the 4-5p range almost instantly, couldn't it? If that happened then any folks who got shaken out at under 2.5p would be left feeling pretty sick.

If Ruffer have recently bought an additional 52 million shares then that is a real thing which shouldn't be dismissed.

Do they know something we don't? Well now...that would be insider trading, wouldn't it? But what I think we can say confidently is that these guys are professionals with heavy duty investment research. And they aren't just going to be taking some completely mad punt. So, it's a positive.

I've signed up for the investor-meets-company thing. It'll actually be quite interesting to see what they've got to say for themselves.

Whatever will be will be, Jzchat. Your concerns could crystallise. But this is a stock that could also turn around pretty fast. It might be a very different story in 3-4 years time...? My point to Garry was a different one. I think it is fair to say that he shares all of your fears about VLS. In particular he expresses an almost total lack of confidence in the management. Yet he then goes on say he has put *more money* into it. Eh!?? Now call me old fashioned, but I find that money speaks loudest of all in investment! If someone stays in a stock, that must indicate some residual optimism. But if someone is ADDING money to it, that is the ultimate expression of confidence, isn't it?

For the record: I have reduced my position size in VLS and thus locked in some losses. Make of that what you will ;-)

I won't disagree, Garry. But I think they have also been screwed over quite badly by the government. When you look at the support US green-sector energy companies are getting, it is a whole different league, isn't it?

I have to agree with MM and Drax, Garry. There's not a whole lot of sense in bewailing VLS if you are still putting more money into it!

The absolute m-o-t-h-e-r of a short squeeze is unfolding there! And there is still 2x or 3x potential as things stand, IMHO. Check it out, do your research, etc... But, honestly fellers, it's real rocket ship stuff already! There could be a bit of a correction tomorrow, and thus an opportunity to get in good. Or it might just go on accelerating.
