I understand where you are coming from BUT PLUS is already down 66% from the 52 week high! CMC doesnt have the reputation, dividend, operating profit, revenue, buybacks profit , growth etc etc as PLUS
So after the first 5 minutes of trading PLUS has traded just 524 shares! A stand off bidding at 706 asking at 713.2..some gap on book, not broker spread
>Shorters need to buy in order to reduce their short positions so you would expect to see lots of buys and a climbing SP..?
Most shorts are via CFD so the provider holds the long position. When the CFD closes the provider will then close the long position
There are many other permutations as well mate. Large funds can drive the price down using algorithms (again constant small sells)..reducing the price by larger percentage vs volume. They then come in with a massive buy at a lower price which more than hedges against the losses made on the constant small sells
Was just looking at that. Do you know how many they are buying it total and how many have already been bought..approx?
The cynic in me says they have restarted the buybacks because they are cheap now! At least we might get some support now and it shows they are monitoring things and acting. When sellers dry up and the buybacks + others come in this will rocket. As usual I came in too early! Hopefully not long now...
Pretty sure yesterday was short/s reducing...volume supports that alongside constant small sells....Cant definitely confirm until 3 o'clock FCA update (although yesterdays FCA update failed due to technical reasons!)
That doesnt mean more wont reduce today. However every update/RNS I read from Plus is positive, except the last one which is still pretty positive as well overall. We know numbers will be down on last year but they will up on par with 2017, maybe up "This step-change in the Company's financial performance, included an exceptional first quarter (revenue: $297.3 million, more than triple Q1 2017)". " 2019 has started with positive operational KPIs. New Customer8 and Active Customer9 numbers and the number of new trades opened are ahead of the end of 2018"
This is still the no1 CFD in many countries and the demise of other providers could have seen some punters move over to PLUS..."AUAC rose through the middle of the year against a quieter market backdrop, before falling again in the fourth quarter"...there are also the emerging markets like Singapore to factor in and the operating margin is incredibly good as is the dividend!
I just wish they had quantified "materially lower"...ANY number would have been better than none = fear of the unknown...
RE: Why do we think these was big buys?10 Apr 2019 22:01
They are not always after hour trades.. Most are large orders that have been bought/sold throughout ut the last 48 hrs and report after hours.. A true after hour trade would be between finiancial institutions...
So UT... Its all about the order book.. Any unfulfilled orders (buy or sell) left on the book at 430 go into the auction.. New orders are added at that point until 435..the algo is constantly scanning the price to maximise the numbers of orders that will be full filled. The price it crosses at is that at which the most orders will be satisfied. You can put a buy or sell order on the book with no price, just a volume, and it will be fulfilled at whatever the ut is. However if I put an buy order on at 700 it would fail at 715, but if I put it on at 750 it would complete at 715...the same is true but in reverse for all the sells.. So the algo is working out the price that satisfies the most number of orders..

Giro you are right ..UT is simply the price at which the algorithm can match the most orders from the order book in the pre and post market auction and forms closing / opening price..goes through as a SELL if book is BID weighted and vica versa.
WPA and other large orders can reported up to 48 hrs after..they are worked orders not instant BUY / SELL!
Not sure about that. Might have just bounced todays bottom...looks like short positions has reduced (whichever fund was selling)..or they are taking a break from the barrage of small sells
