The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
... hear what you are saying and agree with the way forward long term , however , the big dump in the SP suggests that some of those "big" investors have left the fold ... as you say , wait out and see what happens.
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/d0756878-ed8e-11dd-bd60-0000779fd2ac.html Cookson, the FTSE 250 engineering group, will on Thursday announce a deeply discounted rights issue aimed at raising more than £200m. The highly dilutive offer is aimed at heading off the growing risk of a breach of banking covenants as the prospects of a downturn in global steelmaking become bleaker. Cookson declined to comment on Wednesday night.
Happy New Year! 83 now , interesting share this ... maybe it will see the 70's again ( or lower ) ... I've looked at this quite closely , I think that the debt and decline in demand for its services , profit warning , etc , has really scared off some of the institutional support ... maybe a possible retention of dividend and a possible rights issue might be in the back of their minds or some heavy shorting ... will try to find what stock is loaned out , something must be hanging in the cupboard ... keep us informed if you come up with anything , thanks , gl
.. thanks for that down to 85 now ...
I took the profit today when it spiked and likewise will be looking to get back in (hopefully) in the low 80's. I think it is trying trying to find itself a new trading range , there is obviously interest at these levels but whether it is strong enough to take it the 100 or back towards 80 difficult to call , it seems to like 90 though!
Never be too greedy and live to trade another day is what is often said. The DOW looks strong and this may well continue , but , hey , why not take your stake monies out and half the profit and leave the remainder in?
lol
... big risk high return and all that , but luck also helps , what a recovery !! "It ain't over till the fat lady sings." - now where are my cigars.
.... must be a tough job , no corporate free flights for Standard & Poor’s senior staff this year!
not a bad rise in a few trading days from its low...
... lots of positive noises feeding through , launch date in February of new immunoanalyser, the IDS iSYS , on target. The broker , Daniel Stewart , says, "in our view IDSs (Immuno's) analyser will move the company into an enormous new market segment." Has target price of 237 pence.
.. currently in France but considering options to move out of Europe
re Anglo , it will depend on what ultimately how the Irish Government want to play it. For example , Bradford and Bingley shareholders may get something under the act and provisions within that have been set aside , they may not. As for shorting you need a CFD account or a Spread betting account , no difference really but CFD 's are linked to shares and profits are taxed upon , Spread betting has no involvement with shares and has no tax applied to profits. It depends on your moral stance towards such as to which you may choose , but the vast majority of posters will dislike you for choosing either as they prefer the traditional moral values of trading , so think carefully what you want to get out of trading , continued enhanced profits in both a weakening or strengthening market or a retained strong moral standing ?
I shorted Allied Irish prior to the ban and again on 16.01.08 following Anglo's unfolding and overall sentiment .. switched direction when nationalisation was dismissed by the Irish Government and the share bottomed out and enjoyed the ride back up. Taken majority of profits out today and looking to re-enter with some retained profits as I feel , as stated earlier , that after recent recovery some weakness / profit taking may creep in.
off yesterdays low , now 92.5
Standard & Poor’s, the ratings agency, said it may put British Airways into “junk” territory.
out of the recovery of the banks , RBS , BARC and LLOYD , all of which have recovered well , it is Allied remains top of the leader board. Very happy with a couple of the other European Banks , Deutsche Bank looks like it could well recover strongly from recent lows given recent trading rumours. Keeping alert for any weakness / profit take should it start to creep in , gl
... yes , such news often confirms how papers manipulate certain facts or even as you say , omit all together. Raising new bonds is going to be expensive in todays market and not certain. Offloading the Independent will reduce operating losses yes but will likely not get any real premium. It does not look like O'Reilly read his other investments well at all and having no dividend will not help , however , i doubt this will effect the quality of his wine cellar. I am in 2 minds on this one. They had a rally yesterday and more news has now been circulated , it will be interesting to see how they open first thing. I am going over some of their other assets likely to be off loaded and doing some cross referencing on some of their trading history to get more of a feel for INM. Very important to see how this one trades first thing.
British Land: The property company is believed to be close to selling a 50 per cent stake in Sheffield’s Meadowhall shopping centre for about £550 million to a joint venture between an Abu Dhabi fund and London & Stamford, the AIM-listed property fund. Morgan Stanley predicted that British Land could follow the Meadowhall sale with a share issue of about £1.4 billion. I try to follow likely share issues as , depending on the reason , there is more often than not a gradual fall in SP until full details are known. This one has been doing the rumour mill for the last 3 weeks or so and is the likely reason for the decline and probable increased shorting activity. I am sure once the issue is fully known and out of the way the SP will settle and with disposals may soon start to recover. gl.
CKSN - not well liked of late. Started to dip my toe in late today at c.82.25 , may well drop off in current gloom and doom but you have to start somewhere. I like fighting against reds anyway!
