For those watching the progress of the AM today . We are just leaving Felixstowe area out bound for the River Maas , should be doing around 19-20 knots , so some time this afternoon I should hopefully get some photos of the AM , will try if we pass close enough . Regards to all .
Being a Marine Electrical Engineer with 28 years experience here is my own opinion of the RNS sentence "This stopover will be extended to undertake a repair to an auxiliary system associated with power generation."
In my experience an auxiliary system would mean something that a Particular Generator , or Generators depend on to function and provide the Power .
This could be and not limited to Seawater Cooling Motor/Pump/s . Fuel Pump/s . Automatic Filters . However most installations have a Running pump and a standby pump , that's normal practice . It could also be corroded pipework in a cooling system that needs a repair .
Electrically - Possibly a Generator Governor . AVR . Main Breaker . I would have thought though that if they referred to a repair , rather than replacement , that would indicate something more in line with sea water cooling or aux system for the generator/s .
All in my own opion .
Rgds to all
