When will Ryan wake up and see how much pain he is injecting into the lives of the people of Ireland.

For all his Green bullsh** the fact is that Ireland is woefully short of both oil and gas. For example, as from today, home heating oil is limited to 500 litres per buyer and it is a fact that "Over 1.5 million households in the Republic of Ireland are heated with heating oil (kerosene)."

When you consider there are about 2.5 million houses and apartments in Ireland of which about 10% are apartments it follows that the majority of houses use oil to heat their properties, how long will it be bofore they are doing to Ryan what that heroic man did to the gates of the Russian Embassy on Orwell Road yesterday.

It is just shame the driver did not go back further and put the lorry through the windows. That would have really shaken up those unwelcome "Guests of the Nation".

So long before Ryan starts to feel the wrath of the citizens that he has so badly abused and perhaps that can keep him warm as he sleeps in the dail. Probably because he is too mean to heat his own house so likes the comfort.

I see Ryan made a total horlicks of his presentation at the EC Energy Meeting last week.

I see Ryan running for cover. Note from Sunday Business Post today:

So we can expect a policy statement from the EC next week and he will probably grant the Providence Barryroe license on the back of that saying "his hands were tied and so he had to do it against his better judgement."

The interviewer forgot to ask him how he got to Brussels.

He says "We have to release our dependency on those fossil fuels" where he is obviously referring to the billions of dollars Europe spends on fossil fuels from Russia" each month and which ties in Germany as the biggest receiver along with all those other European countries who are part of that bag of worms.

Comment from the EU: " E.U. officials say they will unveil a strategy to reduce dependence on Russian energy as quickly as possible on March 2." That will be interest to read as it is obviously a rushed scramble.

I am sure with the sanctions that Putin is close to turning off the oil and gas taps as a last resort and then we will see what Ryan and the others have to say.

It would be good if Putin did turn off the oil and gas and then we would see what Ryan would say as you can be sure he would be running for the hills when people were having "sold houses and lights out".

But, as usual, he does not say where the replacement is going to come from.

The Daily Telegraph reported yesterday that Chancellor Rishi Sunak has asked Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng to fast-track - oil and gas - licences - in the North Sea - amid Treasury fears over the economic impact of the country’s net zero drive.

The fields named include Rosebank, Jackdaw, Marigold, Brodick and satellites on the Catcher field, as well as the delayed Tolmount East development. Most have already been partially sanctioned by government and have previously been announced as potential final investment decision (FID) targets this year.

The combined capacity of these six fields equates to 420m barrels which is less than Barryroe and is sufficient to supply the UK for six months.

If the UK is developing these because it needs the oil and gas how long before it switches off the gas from Moffat to Gormanston and Loughshinny? You can be sure charity begins at home even among "friends".

I bet Ryan will not be too happy with this as he lives in Dundrum - a snooty part of Dublin - whose "natives" are up in arms over a few hundred social houses are planned to be built on their doorstep.

It is interesting that they are planning for oil in 2026 by which time Ireland will have a Sinn Fein government as the next election has to be held by 2025. This is probably an attempt to scupper Ryan as there is no way he will be minister by then and I am sure we will see a few "shortages" of oil and gas long before then and Corrib is already 50% depleted so there won't be much left there by 2026..

It must have a bearing on future plans as it prevents Ryan from either delaying or preventing the development of Barryroe.

And given the partners in the consortium are some of the biggest players in the EU oil and gas markets it must also put their minds at ease that Barryroe will not jeopardise any of their projects in Europe but will add to them.

There are three connections to Ireland; one in the North and two in the South that come from Moffat in Scotland; one is at Gormanston and the other is at |Loughshinny, a village which is about fifteen miles closer to Dublin and about fifteen miles south of Gormanston.

If the UK wanted to spike the EU it could insist that all gas coming to Ireland would have to come in through Northern Ireland and then be redistributed to the South.

Furthermore Ryan has not "cut off other gas supply options". He might like to but according to Varadkar they all still exist. So who is right and who will win - Ryan or Varadkar? My money is on Varadkar.

So, the UK has no reason to agree a new deal with Ireland so what is Ireland going to do now that "Ireland is failing to meet European Union energy security standards?

Since all of this has just come out of the ground and the Northern Ireland protocol is up in the air is it possible it has delayed the promised "finalised" Strategic Review? If it has then surely they should tell us.

Strangely enough, no RNS could be a good sign if we do not hear something today.

In days of old, "baby", even if he had nothing of note to say would bluster before a deadline so to miss a deadline as the current mob has done must surely have bigger fish to fry or their credibility will be on a par with his.

At worst, a "Boris Johnson", statement of "not me gov." such as "nothing can be done until Ryan pulls his finger out and agrees the license" would be "something" so not even that makes you wonder what is actually going on.

I see Ryan has been very quiet since Varadkar said licenses would be honoured and, in the case of LNG Shannon would be granted as long as An Bord Pleanála (the planning board) can be appeased. Obviously a case of government where left hand does not know what right hand is doing and good indication that things will change in December if Varadkar becomes the boss even though at the moment he is trying to wipe egg of his own face where he gave a "favour" to a pal of his and it has come back to haunt him.

Irish politics run by a similar bag of noddies as the UK.

While the LNG plant for Shannon was to feed Moneypoint, the LNG plant proposed for Cork was to feed Whitegate through the KInsale Energy pipeline.

The Cork plant would have no problems with An Bord Pleanála because there is an infrastructure there but it was kyboshed in 2021 when it MOU ran out and the end of 2020 but given Varadkar's statement that there was no reason, other than planning to stop Shannnon, surely Cork will not become viable.

So, there is nothing stopping it being resurrected as it initially stopped because Ryan interfered but the question is, who is in charge? Varadkar says nothing stopping Shannon only An Bord Pleanála but there is no issue with that in Cork.

So Ryan might have stymied the plan at the moment but there is nothing stopping it being resurrected.

Since the EU directive appointing gas as "green" was only published the other day it does not leave them much time to integrate it into any defined proposal and since our "Green behind the years" minister has not done the needful and signed off the license agreement they will just produce a conditional strategy on Monday, as promised, before the end of the month.

Perhaps they have arranged a takeover of Barryroe as Schlumberger has so much ready profits and cash it is looking for opportunities.

If we have to wait another year or two, who cares.

Now that the EU has approved gas as "green" and, as you say, Varadkar indicated that all licenses in Ireland were "active" surely if Ryan now tries to stymie Providence they can appeal to the EU and they can also sue the Irish Government for non-compliance with the directive as time is money and lost time is a cost.

Furthermore, since there will be funding from the EU for gas projects now they are "green" we might find that Providence can apply for funding through that route. After all, the EU granted Ireland billions to build all those lovely roads around the place so what would a gas field development cost in the light of that?

Now Varadkar has joined Ryan as a lying sob.

While the TD asking the question in the post might come across as a non-entity, the government ignores his ilk at their peril. He is one of the independents who will probably put Sinn Fein into power at the next election. A small farmer from Roscommon, he has the "ear" of the country rather than the townies who think they run the country.

In talking about where the UK gets its gas, Varadkar was correct in saying only a relatively small amount comes from Russia but he missed out, deliberately I am sure, that the UK gets a huge percentage of its gas from the US which is "fracked".

I listed a site yesterday which says the UK gets nearly half its gas from the US which is "fracked". It came from the following report on 2020.

And we know Ireland receives "fracked" gas from the US which it incorporates into the system "under the lids", as they say.

Why Ryan is a hypocrite.

Ryan does not want gas from the US because it is "fracked" but he wants gas from the UK where the UK imports gas and oil from the US as the second source after Norway.

Quote: "almost 90% of new US onshore oil and gas wells are hydraulically fractured."

Since most US gas is "fracked" this means Ireland is getting "fracked" gas "under the counter".

If the Strategic Update talks about oil, throw your hat at it. Ryan will just jump all over it but if the EU approves gas he won't have a leg to stand on.

Talk of gas and he has to come up with a good answer as to why Ireland is importing "fracked" gas from America under the lids even though he says it is "unclean".

And, as you say, tomorrow is "D" day for Europe as it will surely declare the Taxonomy to vote for "gas" whatever about nuclear. Even our beautiful EU Commissioner, Mairead McGuinness is the one promoting it so it would be strange for Ryan to override our own EU Commissioner.

And if it passes, Providence will surely use it as an argument to develop Barryroe.
