The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Not sure if you’ve seen but the whole esports thing in America is taking off… NFL teams have set up gaming teams… streamers are signing multimillion $ contracts… gaming tournaments are bringing in record viewing figures… and gaming players are featuring in adverts…
We’re just getting started here.
Plot twist: large investor knows good news on horizon and driving down share price so they can pick as many as possible at a lower price.
1st Year Financials could show company is undervalued = share price rockets
The truth is the share price has moved on no news and feelings… feelings could quickly change with news.
Why do they need news and why do they need it now?
This is in a growing industry & is quite clearly a longer term investment.
If you’re looking for a quick buck, GILD ain’t the one.
If you’re looking for a stock in a red hot sector which has huge potential in a number of spaces & is backed by arguably one of the biggest sports stars in the world… then maybe GILD is the one… who knows.
But this is probs going to be the thing which makes Beckham a billionaire (eventually).
Haha… people think this is just for the young ‘uns…
Every one of my friends have a preferred streamer / watch gaming tournaments and we’re all between 20-30.. & I wouldn’t class is as “geeks”. We’re beer drinking lads (oi oiiiiiii) Ha. ~cringe~
As for the kids… they don’t wanna be footballers anymore… they want to be content creators or professional gamers… GUILD has options which cover both.
That’s pretty much the way it works currently - so you’ll have all the players streaming and then one main stream which jumps between each player when/if they’re in the action .
So you’ll have a GUILD players streaming, who might have 5-10k viewers alone… & then the main tournament stream which could have 150k viewers… plus all the other players who each have 5-10k viewers.
It’s hard to get actual figures but you have an audience of around 3m on some tournament's… & that’s an only on one platform (Twitch).
The live events will be an interesting one… & it won’t be too long until gaming tournaments are aired live on Sky/BBC… something which blows the minds of older generations…
“so… you just watch them play a game?!?”
The only count down I saw was a picture on Twitter with date on it… it was clear as day it was going to be new merch but people on here got excited thinking it was going to be a sponsor.
The only place this “announcement” was hyped up was on this board.
You say they’re “shoving merch down people’s throats” - I’ve seen 3 tweets about it from their Twitter?
I really don’t think people understand this business… also not to scare anyone but it’s well known that merch makes little to no money… there’s other reasons company’s/streamers release merchandise such as T-Shirts.
It’s similar to the whole idea that PSG singing messi will make their money back in shirt sales alone… which just isn’t true.
As for players/streamers, they’ll love that they’ve got merch to offer to their followers without having to invest a ton of time and their own money in creating their own merch…
