I'd like to think the sp is in recovery mode given the defensive qualities and divi. Even if Labour get into power and go ahead with re-nationalising it'll be years before that happens so we have growth potential in the meantime. (Interesting that the spread is as narrow as it's possible to be so the assumed buys/sells are meaningless.)

What's the chances of the decline continuing? Very high - dead cert - unless I sell - whence an out-of-the-blue reversal will occur. It is as if I have control over the stock market like a cosmic dice thrower.

Surely it's not all about cost cutting. The future is more about bringing new stuff to market and selling it to an increasing world population. To that extent all drug companies are a punt on unknown future prospects.

The sensible thing to do now that the spread is reducing is to sell to preserve capital rather than wait to be completely wiped out. There is no intrinsic value in BLOC. However, I know that if I did that something would happen to cause the sp to rise. I have a near-100% track record on this sort of thing which I'm sure defies statistical probability. If only I could bottle it (as in a bottle of snake oil).

The dilutive effect will exceed the small saving on re-investment costs so it ain't better for investors. Also, using the terms 'logic' and 'market' in the same sentence doesn't make 'sense'. That was just a joke, sorry. My view is simply that the sp is a bit toppy and we are seeing a correction. I do wonder, however, whether the EU's threat about limiting access to Uk-based financial services is causing a risk-off sentiment. Taking the long view, buying the dips with HSBA can't be bad. HSBA do some good mortgage deals but when it comes to it are very reluctant to actually let you have the money. This, however, shows good financial management so is good for investors.We live in a perverse world. M

I'm not a shorter. (Who would accept a short on WTG?) Anyway, taking account of that div paymnt, I only need the sp to rise about 50 fold to break even. I kind of lost track of all the splits etc. designed to confuse people and mask the devaluations. Who knows how long the S&G thing will go on...

I was one of the saps who invested in QPP and failed to get out as it got wiped out - always hoping there'd be some turnaround. There appears no redress for investors despite it being a false prospective. I now ask myself who would buy into this, with its massive spread and uncertainty, rather than something with track record of good returns and risk spread like an investment trust? Something I'm missing...?

It's just a coincidence that brokers rhymes with jokers and their target prices aren't anything to go on. LGEN has been recovering from June/July 2016. It is well run, has a good dividend, reasonable cover and modest PE for the sector that argues there's room for an upward re-rating. Downside risk is no trade deal with EU on services.

A welcome leveling off and slight uptrend now. After all, the PE is now well below the FTSE avg and yielding 6%, which is compound if you reinvest. A long way back to breakeven given my entry point of c.9.50 last July, when the same chart pattern existed i.e. it looked like a dip to be exploited. With a bond proxy such as NG. it could be argued that the sp is immaterial i.e. it's not a growth stock (any more). Same could be said of VOD, the broker targets for which are mostly mad.

We can only hope it's the next big thing and that Stapleton will find something. Tom Winnifrith opined that it's of no obvious use.

It's noticeable how shares naketrader blogs about rise, sometimes same day. MMs must watch for stuff he buys and drive the price up.

Indeed the likes of Xcite,Range,Matra etc. oilies and deviants like Quindell come to mind where PI investments just seem to pay directors' salaries.

The drop is within recent up/down range. As people lose their nerve and sell so the price drops. The price could go all over the place as people sell to cut losses or hope for a lower re-entry price, which is indeed annoying and mm's will no doubt exploit this. There's no intrinsic value in speculative/opportunity shares such as this, so we just have to wait and see what the company can get into. With good management there is great opportunity.

...and what regarding NG - mitigation against privatisation under JC?

Hoping so. Worked out that if it stays flat c.750 and I reinvest the divvy then breakeven will be 6-7 yrs given I bought 950ish. However, if it rises even a modest 5% pa. that reduces to 4. Inflation aside of course.
