Errrr...Global crisis? I've been a vocal critic of Masterman in the past but I'm happy to give the guy a bit of space at the moment. He's covered the finance to see us through this unprecedented crisis (for crisis read act of war by China) and unusually for me, I'm prepared to give him a break. I think he's doing everything he can to protect his and our investments. I'd rather hear that the Spanish Gov money is being made available now rather than months away. That would undoubtedly help us. We know we are producing, still in ramp-up, so I'm as chilled as I can be at the moment. Still massively underwater but confident that Masterman has done everything he can to keep the lights on.
If I have my facts right the mine was due to reopen after the lockdown this Thursday 9th. From my understanding, Spain has extended this lockdown. That said, of course, Friday 10th is the start of Easter and I'd guess as a good godfearing Catholic country they the good people of Spain would take time to celebrate that anyway so any extension (short term) shouldn't really further affect production in the next week or so.
America likening the Chinese Virus (let's call it what it is!) to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. Perhaps the USA spy satellites are watching China closely and getting close to the truth. At the very least once we are all through this in the West we should economically cripple China, bring back manufacturing that we buy there to our own countries, subsidize our own manufacturing.
Wuhan to Shanghai = 839km
Wuhan to Beijing = 1,152km
Wuhan to Milan = 15,000km
Wuhan to NY = 15,000km
The Coronavirus started in Wuhan yet there is no effect of Coronavirus in nearby Beijing or Shanghai but many deaths in Italy, Iran, European countries and the USA.
All business areas of China are now safe.
America is not just blaming China without a reason.
Even today, India is locked down but all the cities of China are open. China has also announced the opening of Wuhan from April 08. Not a single leader in China has tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus.
The virus has ruined many economies around the world. Many have had to close their borders in an attempt to contain and control the spread of the Coronavirus. Thousands have lost their lives, millions have now got this disease, countless people have been locked in their homes and many countries have placed their citizens on lockdown.
The Coronavirus originated from the city of Wuhan in China and has now reached every corner of the world, but the virus did not reach China's capital Beijing and China's Economic Capital Shanghai, located in close proximity to Wuhan itself.
Today Paris is closed, New York is closed, Berlin is closed, Delhi is closed, Mumbai is closed, Tokyo is closed, the world's major economic and political centres are closed, but Beijing and Shanghai are open. No Coronavirus effect is seen in either city. There were only a few cases but the virus had no real effect on Beijing and Shanghai.
Beijing is the city where all the leaders of China live, including their military leaders. There is no lockdown in Beijing.
Shanghai is a city that runs China's economy. It is the economic capital of China, where all the rich people of China live and run major industries. There is no lockdown here, there is no effect of the Coronavirus there.
Beijing and Shanghai are the areas adjoining Wuhan. The virus from Wuhan reached every corner of the world, but the virus did not affect Beijing and Shanghai.
Another big thing is, that the worldwide share market has fallen by almost half. In India also the Nifty has gone from 12 thousand to 7 thousand, but the share market of China was at 3000 and just merely dropped to 2700.
This leaves one to speculate that the Coronavirus is a biochemical weapon of China, which China used to carry out destruction in the world in order to gain economic supremacy.
China has now put this virus under control, maybe they also have the antidote/ vaccine that they are not sharing with the world ever or will do when it is in their best interest to do
This (if you haven't yet realized it) is deadly serious.
We have lost a couple of nurses and a doctor in my area to this.
A small local hospital had 10 deaths yesterday alone yesterday, god knows what the numbers are like at the big university hospitals!
Funeral director's mortuaries are filling up and funerals are already taking place in growing numbers. I'm now down to my last three next week and once those are done I'm out of it until I'm satisfied its safe to go back. Its been a very dangerous environment to have worked in for the last few weeks.
This is going to be a real 541t storm over the next few weeks, possibly months.
Yes, it does take the elderly and infirm readily but as displayed by the loss of a young boy of 13 and a growing number of others in their 20's and 30's with no apparent underlying causes. It is the most awful death, basically suffocating as your respiratory system fills with a solidifying fluid.
Do not take any chances and don't take it lightly. I do think HM Gov is doing well, but the numbers, in my opinion, are way short of the real death rate.
People are being death registered as COPD, Pneumonia, old age, etc, I would say probably you could add a conservative 10/15% on top IMO.
Anyway, good to see a nice jump in the sp today.
Stay safe people!!!
Well said. Hopefully once we are through this virus thing we can return to a Britain where we makes stuff rather than buying it from the stinking dog and bat eating Chinese. I hope every western economy invests in and subsidies its home industries to enable us the withdraw from needing China in the future until they learn the meaning of the words truth honesty and civility.
Yup difficult and dangerous times. Funerals with lots of restrictions now in place. Most chapels restricting numbers to a max of 20, some chapels insisting on no attendance at all by mourners, no approaching or touching the coffin, no hymn books in chapels, mourners having to sit 6 feet apart... very very sad times all round. I know of at least two COVID19 victims in my area, bodies treated with total respect but collected by a min two-man team in full PPE, double body bagged and then in a sealed coffin all outside surfaces disinfected and all PPE kit disposed of as hazardous high infection waste. Vehicle bed then fully disinfected. No embalming allowed, no power tools allowed in the case of a post mortem. This is so much more than 'flu'. IMO this is some form of a chemical weapon accidentally released in China. I have ten funerals booked between today and 9th April and am not taking on any more bookings and Mrs. MIB and me going into our own lockdown from 10th April onwards. Just glad we have no debt, no mortgage and a pot of money that will see us through the rest of our days. Feel sorry for the young uns who must wonder what their future holds.
WRES has been written off in my head (and bank account) and if I come out of this at break even I'll be happy. I just hope MM can keep the lights on.
Not second guessing any of it. I’ve got £44k invested and right now I’ve written it off. If we ride this out and I get anything back that will be a bonus. Let’s see what the numbers look like when we get them and we may have more idea.
Mmnn how can I put this ....COVID19 is serious 541t! The changes in the last 48hrs have been dramatic. The HSE guidelines issued for the collection and handling of the deceased victims of it are quite drastic and I understand that it is now believed that the virus remains active for up to 9 days following death, so all this malarkey about coughs n sneezes spreading it is bullshine! Not good! Not good at all. I’m deeper underwater on this than I’ve ever been and I’ll just be glad to be alive this time next year.
Agreed also. But maybe combine the two things. Masteman needs to keep us advised of the impact it is having at LP and Regua. Are they shut down are they producing, how long can we hold out with no production, is the Extramadura Gov still going to pay the grant???? We need some imformation.
The Gov guidelines issued this week to staff involved in the removal of deceased persons make me think its a lot more than we are being told! Full PPE kit to be worn, two people required, special body bags, once inside the body bag it is to be decontaminated along with any trolley used before leaving the anteroom and the PPE kit to be removed at the door and disposed of in strong bin liners and disposed of as Category B infectious waste. Post-Mortems are to be carried out using only hand tools, not power tools and embalming, not allowed both to prevent unnecessary contact with body fluids. Spain has banned all funerals already. I have 8 next week and am waiting for further Gov announcements. It takes between 1.5/2hrs to cremate a body dependent on size so probably only average 12 in any 24 hour period working 24hrs. If this takes off as it has in Italy we will struggle. There are stories coming out of Italy of families living in a house with a dead body of a relative because the authorities are not coping with the situation. Very unhygienic and distressing for those left.
I think HM Government has got this spot on. No panic, measured and scientifically and medically qualified advice to manage our limited facilities to best effect. I thought Boris was looking very Churchillian yesterday and that's the sort of leadership we need at times of crisis. Thank christ we didn't end up with Corbyn or still have May in charge!! Interesting that world powers have so far failed to really come out and accuse the perpetrators of this pandemic, The Chinese. I suppose they wield the big stick now. Despite their 5G technology and manufacturing base they still eat bats, dogs (for gods sake what sort of scum eats dogs!!) and live rodents. Anyway, all carrying on as normal here in sunny Staffordshire.
Dr Byron Pirola was born in 1960 has been for a long time Managing Director at Port Jackson Partners a Management Consultancy in Sydney https://portjacksonpartners.com.au/
Could be he was acting in this role with Michael as a management consultant and perhaps his work with WRES is considered done. He is retaining his shareholding so he seems to have some faith in the project.
Any news would be welcome.
Are we picking up any new business from buyers looking to move away from Chinese buyers? How much?
Are we still ramping up and in production amid the COV19 outbreak? Has it affected our business?
With the current interest in Gold where are we at with that?
Been jittery about this for a long time, like a good many other LTH's who have watched this SP drop away but currently too far underwater to bail out so sticking with it and hoping the more positive posters have it right. I have my bailout point in mind already so just hoping that the April figures are where they need to be and promised and this virus doesn't cost me and a lot more of us quite a few grand.
I agree and if LP and staff are all well safe and working hard producing stuff I think MM should make a statement to that effect. The market is already wary of mining companies we don't need them to doubt us any further.
Gov seemingly taking this very seriously. Advice for handling of deceased from Coronavirus. https://www.goodfuneralguide.co.uk/2020/03/covid-19-official-advice/
By Sir Winston Churchill ( with a few minor amendments by me...lol)
Let us be contented with what has happened and be thankful for all that we have been spared. (and that the SP didn't drop again!)
Let us accept the natural order of things in which we move. (However frustrating and slowly)
Let us reconcile ourselves to the mysterious rhythm of our destinies, such as they must be in this world of space and time.
Let us treasure our joys but not bewail our sorrows. (I'd certainly treasure some Gold news)
The glory of light cannot exist without its shadows.
Life is a whole, and good and ill must be accepted together. (Even DB!)
The journey has been enjoyable and well worth making-----once....(Don't think I've got enough years left in me to invest in another WRES again!...so will be just the once...lol)
Onwards and Upwards Wressers...our day will come...one day...Keep smiling.
