MrBrowe The Chinese coal fired power stations are famously in-situ of industry and not linked to a power grid. The small cottage industris of bangladesh are spread out in small communities where the power is from local generator, as and when required . The gdp & power needs and infrastructure don't warrant a power station needed in Phulbari.
The bangladesh gdp and the extreme rural location & huge distance to nearest city, hardly make this a feasible project. The company have a history of very bad relations with the locals. (Search: Asia Energy). Phulbari has a very small population (120k) and 40 - 100,000 live directly on top of what gcm want to turn into open-cast. Problematic - avoid.

It's does seem that with the timing of last two RNS's regarding West Denver permits applications withdrawn - are they driving sp down to a placing entry price?
Greenwolf, the market DOES get it wrong sometimes. If the market WASN'T wrong in both extreme highs & lows, then we would not see the swings and volatility. Als the fact that charting creates self-fulfilling / artificial buy -sell behaviour is testament to this.
Yes Scully, Flybe could be compared to Buffets 'Washington Post' purchase, whose MCap in the 73 / 74 bear market was valued at just 1/5th of its 400m asset value. GLA. Contrarian investing all the way!
As the II's derisk it begins reaction of volatile behaviour and continued derisking by the other II's and pi's. Then is it is shaped by the panic behaviour rather than facts. In a panic situation, people will often herd towards a single fire exit and ignore the less congested fire exits, because the panic has fogged their decision making.
Surely the potential bidders will want all assets included in the lot and decide for themselves what is best to restructure? How much of the raised millions will be sucked up by the BOD gravy train? At least this might prompt bidders to hurry before more assets are stripped.
Nice balance between buys & sells. So technically it still remains over sold
As Everpower are involved in the silicone carbide products, it would be surprising if they were not a main player in forthcoming placing.
These companies never announce that they've run out money at critical stage because they've prioritised over inflated wages and refused to cut back on lavish jet set expenditures (which they see as necessary to create the illusion of power & success). But some director's do kindly give the warning signs to pi's by selling a month or so in advance of the sp dropping drastically. Cheers Ray x

IMO, GCM should immediately scout forJV with an OM refinery to produce coal-to-liquids (fischer-tropsch process to create liquid hydrocarbons from coal & gas) to produce low sulphur fuels, marine fuel and even jet aviation fuel! It would have appeased the environmentalists in the west and attracted some international funding & accolades for key politicians involved. We need more tricks for this pony!
As I understand, the 2006 agreement ruling out open pit at Phulbari was made by (BNP/ Jamatt) ZIa and upheld by opposition Masina..Although Masina has been party to feasibility studies on nearby Bara Pukira. So what party really is pro GCM / PhulbarI?
99icecream Thank you for info & links, much appreciated! You mention independent power generation of 40%. - IMO, This would also largely include use of small generators in domestic, villages and factory settings? - From memory, I recall that China has not focused on developing it's own on-grid systems to rural & semi rural locations instead preferring local generation from smaller coal fired plant. Would the Bangladesh government not see this as more viable, to emulate the Chinese success model?
