PG appears to be saying that that particular stakeholder can only expect to benefit from the SA if the informal proposals are honoured. Don’t try to hold us over a barrel, in other words, because that won’t work, witness this RNS.

If the terms of a deal with the other ‘Corrib stakeholder’ have already been agreed informally, is PG reminding them that he will only accept the SA on condition that those terms are formalised when it is received?

New Zealand was very alive to energy issues by reinstating gas exploration more than a year ago. S.Boldy was bold enough to suggest Ireland had lessons to learn from this in an RNS. Slow learners get there in the end.

So we need oil as well as gas in an extreme emergency.

You would almost think the Gov is apologising to the Greens before granting the LU. Public opinion is already sufficiently primed with all these orchestrated steps.

LOGP reports delayed until RTO, in turn delayed by lack of reinstatement of LU. The delay of annual reports until RTO is completed was memtioned in an RNS.

Disputes over new or no new exploration should not prolong glaringly obvious decisions. If new gas is found in or near Corrib it is not going to take 16 or 17 years till production!! Some kind of comprehensive new statement must be holding things up.

Be certain you know what you are talking about and then be positive. This deal has nothing to do with either the Kola Peninsula or the Urals. Pipe down or people will think you are an out-and-out ramper with a very weak knowledge of Geography. No excuses for that unless you are an American.

So the government is playing hard to get and wants the public to see that it has no sensible alternative to renewing these licences. In other words a public relations exercise - because the Goodman family are not in good odour, I suppose. I think S.Boldy is asking us to read between the lines: there will be no RTO until the LU has been reinstated. Maybe long long overdue annual accounts will have to be postponed yet again.Is it a question of nothing being in place until everything is in place? Perhaps Swizz would agree with that. Maybe there is an unwritten consensus on all sides that ECT action will not be needed.

I should have thought sensitivities over the use of indigenous gas would have been well and truly eased by now. Easter Bunny about to be pulled out of the hat?
