Yes, 14% interest and possible protracted litigation would frighten the life, and much else besides, out of most people, including governments. What choices have they? Reinstate the licences now, following what is likely to happen in England, or offer compensation. I certainly would take any reasonable compensation offered rather than wait years but that is not what the country needs. It makes absolutely no sense for a non-Green dominated government not to take reasonable, practical, security-conscious and income-producing decisions in the interests of the whole Country. Just how timely are these decisions going to be? The government will be letting the whole country down if there is procrastination until the Autumn a la Ryan.

The Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea may contain up to the equivalent of 250m barrels of oil. Since 1 barrel has the equivalent energy of 6000 cubic feet of gas, just how much gas would that be? I take that to be 1.5 tcf of gas unless I've got my 000's wrong. The wells will be 6000m deep and about 150 miles off Aberdeen. It looks as if it will go ahead after all,

providing enough energy for 1.4 million homes for a number of years.

Suppose the court case takes 2and1/2 years - that comes to $200m for 16m barrels of oil. Just imagine a claim for all the recoverable oil and gas in the Barryroe field. The figures become mind-boggling and possibly very confusing for Flombo. I believe the final price achieved is bound to be above 50P because of resurgent metal prices for a start.
