Interesting that Tesla are getting involved in India.
Not related to here but just a theorist's view of mine
VIS - 2 possible reasons for me in the decision but i take it slightly different.
1 - Telling China to get stuffed. Australia has all the High Grade Spodumene they need.
2 - Making a statement to ALL world countries that Australia will NOT give away its resources to anyone and although not totally killing the Albemarle deal - still appox 50/50 in Kemerton, they are standing up and saying they dumped China so watch out , pay fair prices and give us good deals.
I believe this to be true after emails with an Ozzie businessman. Melbourne.
The Australian public are beginning to kick off about being "used" by the big boys. The Australians are a very tough bunch and very hard nosed. They take no BS and can see public unrest, so are making a stand against the most unliked power first.
Its a BIG statement not to F with them , they hd the aces.
If the US, China, Russia, UK dont like it , go the crazy town Aftica or S America and see how long the deals last !!! Pay up or gamble.

Yes pawgee. CL and most other miners need approx $600-800m to get to production.
CL with hopefully more brine than rock mica , fingers x'd will need less , hoping for CAPEX of around $450m BUT add on any hydroxide conversion and thats another $300m all day long. Many plants adding the extra Lith Hydrox are coming in at $350-375m , so a full on rock to hydroxide plant with be around $1 billion - $1.2 B.
As you say though the comeback of cash should pay this off within 2-4 years depending on prices of hydroxide as more comes on stream.
The profits should be around $3B + from what my workings show mainly from the refuced cost of chemical processing the cheap brines. Thats where the money will be saved 👍

I have regularily said Musk is looking at the UK and did visit Somerset over 18 months ago , also heavily posted on CUSN at the time.
His current position is UK decision by the end of the year.
WATCH the free space in the North & South West.
He will come and try and take the market with right hand drive PLUS using his new UK TESLA ENERGY Company.
JV with Pilbara 50/50 split - 70/30 on.
JV with Tesla as it cuts hus costs direct to Hydroxide plus Altilium with copper, nickel, REE's next door in Teesside within a lorry drive across the road ???

TVL plant would need to see physical scale up to even think of bidding for offtake. New factory in Devon, BUT building on Teesside next to TVL.
Scale up to supply adequate tonnage will take them towards summer 2024
49.49% of the company ....
Big old voting block for a JV / BUYOUT....
Pretty much as much as they could get without having to bid for the whole company !
Perfect for JV profits OR prefect to SELL OUTRIGHT
;-))))
"As such, Mr Atherley has agreed that an amount of £330,000 currently owing to him by the Company shall be treated as an advance in the form of an unsecured, interest free loan and Mr Quinn has agreed to advance the Company £100,000 in the form of an unsecured, interest free loan. The Company has agreed with Mr Atherley and Mr Quinn that the amounts to be repaid to them under such loans should be applied for the subscription of 235,714 new ordinary shares in the case of Mr Atherley and 71,428 new ordinary shares in the case of Mr Quinn, in each case at the Placing Price, with these subscriptions expected to take place at the earliest possible time permissible, which is envisaged to be in or around August 2023. "
On this transaction alone approx £350,000.
@ £5.00 thats £750,000 PROFIT !!!
just a guess but getting the shares awarded in August is like F in christmas day.
Let the news flow.
Keep in mind 3 thing :-
1 - The greed of these guys not doing it for chip paper
2 - The issue is a fraction of the 49.49% the Bod have
3 - £5.00 is JUST a target for train ONE not All 4 trains.
How much do you think the sp will be once train 1,2,3 & 4 are upand running.
The Bod are in it for double digit millions of profit minus Cap Gains Tax
Theorist and Patch. My theory is above.
What would you do ?
1 - Make a s@#£t ton of money or
2 - W#@£k it all away by being a F wit ?
Me - "SHOW ME THE MONEEEEEY"
Still have the issue of equity in Aug # £1.45p so I'd expect the pull back.
However the JLR news has been reaching global reporting which has given ALK a mini boost.
Hoping for £1.90-2.00 but if not I still expect a fall to £1.30.£1.45p in early Aug.
Then it will be very interesting in to September October.
90days is nearly up ;-)))

With Tesla looking to get quickly in to India with a gigafactory probably inc hydroxide processing, i would imagine JLR Tata will be a bit short of lithium hydroxide with the Indian tata connection ?
Is the sheetshow up over at BV / Recharge came out just at the time TVL was expecting to open up on the finances and deals , this has surely caused the delay ?
The 'tolling' feedstock mentioned by both Pilbara and TVL is an unusual term and mention by both parties within a couple of weeks. Hmmm a slip up in cut copy n pastem
"TVL will supply the gigafactory that Britishvolt had planned to build in Blyth, Northumberland, and Recharge's Geelong gigafactory in Australia with tolled lithium hydroxide from its facility in Teesside, with both companies aiming toward a definitive offtake and supply agreement, Alkemy said.
The companies have also agreed to collaborate to jointly source lithium spodumene to convert into lithium sulfate at TVL's refinery in Port Hedland, Western Australia, to be shipped to Teesside for conversion into lithium hydroxide.
TVL aims to supply its UK and European customers with low carbon lithium hydroxide by sourcing low carbon feedstock and powering an electrochemical refining process with offshore wind and green hydrogen.
"The significant offtake envisaged under the MOU enables long term planning and production forecasting and strengthens its own battery offtake agreements and existing supply chain," Alkemy said, adding that Recharge would make its supply of lithium hydroxide available to its unnamed active cathode supplier."

The feedstock is spare and ready for a deal ?
As regular readers will know my guestimate or you could call it a 'Theorists' view that Pilbara Minerals , having $2+ BILLION IN CASH, 75km from Port Hedland and imho most importantly used the words
So does this ding dong anyones bells from Australia ?
https://www.mining.com/web/pilbara-minerals-sells-spodumene-cargo-linked-to-lithium-hydroxide-prices/
"In the so-called TOLLING arrangement, Pilbara Minerals will receive the lithium hydroxide price for the product sold less an agreed amount for conversion and other costs, it said.
The agreement comes as prices for battery chemicals and the underlying lithium ore have begun to turn down, after China ended a more than decade-long national subsidy for electric vehicle purchases at the beginning of this year."
??? And we wonder who is buying up chunks from £2.50-£2.90 in blocks.
Is this what we have been waiting for fir either Port Hedland Processing plant as I suggested may leap forward. Or Tees Valley Lithium get to start deep lithium hydroxide processing at the same time.
Hopefully the agreement will see a stockpile of spodumene in to the 000's of tons in Australia being converted from 95% waste shipped down to 40-60% waste only OR even better ?
Get ready it could be time soon ???
