Both RBS and HBOS doing well today. I've left Gold alone - looks too dangerous! Still happy dipping into the oil - been a nice gain this morning but out now to se where it is heading. You got a nice weeekend planned?

Yes I did very well from the oil yesterday - just like you I left it open and the stop kicked in as it rallied in the evening. I'll watch it today and the FTSE - I was also watching Gold yesterday and it had taken a real nose dive on the chart - it would have been fairly easy to track if I had been watching it - I'll have a look at that today just as education again. Hope everyone has had a good week and enjoys the holiday weekend coming.

I saw a slump in the FTSE there but it seems to be picking up again - they must have heard you had put a short on!! :) I shall have a look at Cantor, thanks for that. I read in http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/ that there were some companies better for some commodities/indices than others.

I'm keeping close tabs on it this morning, but doing well so far. I have actally found over the last few days that around 5-6 pm was the easiest time to follow it and guage where it was going for a really short term bet (ie 20-30 mins, in and out). Still v risky though :) Does anyone have any recommendations for the best spread bet company? I am with IG but can find buy to sell spread is high.

Yes, I do!! I have put a short on oil, which is doing quite well. Some clever devil mentioned it earlier!! Don't worry I didn't take it as advice - but it certainly helped me today! TandH - sorry to hear you missed out, there was a bit of a profit opportunity there! I ad trouble getting my IG Index to accept a bet as things started moving, but it did eventually. They're clever these spread betting companies aren't they, as KIS said earlier, they like to stack things in their own favour like any bookie!

Don't worry I make my own decisions and know that anything you, or anyone, on here says is mere opinion. I read your opinions with interest, as do I mark-expat, and of course there are others whose opinions jus make me smile or grimace!! That sounds like good advice - I am with IG for the spread betting and it is strange how you can't place a bet just when a big move is about to take place! Their system seemed to jam up yesterday around the time of the Fed statements - coincidence, I don't think so! There has certainly been a drop of the oil price, I was just hanging with it, but as you say maybe it is the time to sell and swap direction! I have a short on the FTSE today, but it may be a risky one after yesterday's volatility.

Sounds like James Bond movies! What do people think this wil do for the price of oil over the next few weeks?I have a long on Brent Crude which has had a dip in the last few days but I would still expect it to keep heading up, unless this new currency system affects it ? Any comments?

You were right. Hope you took those profits before the surge up? I got in just in time to benefit from the results on the FTSE as a spread bet buy. In on the way down again and see how it goes short term.

Indeed they can! If only it all went to plan, how great that would be! You called it well this morning, but I would expect a bit of recovery which might be worth tracking up. Did you follow the HBOS drop as well, or do you leave that to markexpat? What do you see happening with the Fed? You were too impatient to wait and it paid off!
