NGOs have released a statement regarding the audio recording

NGOs have released a statement regarding the audio recording aired on TV Pirveli.

According to the statement, the contents of the released record contain several crime marks under the Criminal Code, in which, presumably, all named persons are involved.

According to the statement, at this stage, it is critically necessary to answer the questions related to the authenticity of the spread record immediately.

"We are responding to the audio recording aired on TV Pirveli, the alleged participants of which are the incumbent Prime Minister, the head of the Special State Protection Service and Bera Ivanishvili.

The record indicates that young people, including minors, were persecuted and threatened because of their views expressed in various ways on social media. We do not know how authentic the published record is, although its contents contain several signs of a crime under the Criminal Code, in which presumably all named persons are involved.

One of the alleged accomplices of the leaked record is the incumbent Prime Minister, who is subject not only to legal but also to political responsibility. If the record is authentic, the question of its political responsibility must be raised.

At the same time, it is hard to imagine the actions taken by law enforcement agencies to earn public trust until the individuals who figure in the record and who can influence the investigative process remain in office.

At this point, it is critically necessary to answer questions about the authenticity of the spread record immediately.

We call on the Prime Minister of Georgia to immediately make an explanation regarding the released record and give clear answers to the questions related to its authenticity.

We call on the Parliament of Georgia to use the tools provided to it by the Constitution of Georgia and the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament and to demand clarifications from the Prime Minister. The disseminated record and the alleged participation of the Prime Minister in it should be the subject of parliamentary discussion.

We call on law enforcement agencies to take appropriate expert and / or other investigative measures to verify the authenticity of the leaked record. To ensure public trust, it is important that this process be conducted in a timely, efficient and transparent manner. "Also, the involvement of independent observers / experts in the process should be ensured and all other steps necessary to increase the credibility of the investigation should be taken," the statement reads.
