It's very telling when she says "There are still some people in the Northern Territory that have concerns" "And I don't just mean the professional agitators, there are still some very normal people that have concerns" The words "still", "some", and "normal" say alot!
I'm sure I won the draft, and scargs won the final? Just checked: WetWater Dec 16th at 7:25am GMT. Interesting link ITGuy. That level of understanding of how things work in the background is beyond me. However, the take-home message seems to be to stick to your guns and hold Falcon when the moratorium is lifted, even if the sp dips temporarily? ...this is something I fully intend to do.
This is excellent, they are really making inroads into the bioprocessing market.
It’s the fanaticism that gets me. They say they are concerned about the environment and water quality etc. Well so are we! We also want no harm to come to the environment. We have just had a thorough scientific enquiry that has established that a well-regulated fracking industry would not impact the environment. Yet they stubbornly refuse to believe the science or the facts. With or without fracking, the environment would be the same. But they would rather the Northern Territory was plunged into economic disaster than have their core beliefs and misconceptions challenged.
Nice Marshmill. I like how people are directly linking the fracing ban with increased taxes and decreased government revenues. It does not make sense for the Treasurer to be talking about a brutal budget with tax increases, public service cuts and higher deficits when her Government is holding back an industry that will be the catalyst for enormous Territory growth and prosperity, -Absolutely! Particularly when you factor in that a panel of independent experts has concluded that fracing will have no / minimal risks to the environment, and will be done in one of the remotest places on the planet, it makes absolutely no sense to hold it back!
Excellent new website, looks much more professional.
From ABC news: NT braces for new taxes as GST shortfall forces Government to raise revenue http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-04-06/nt-government-to-create-new-taxes-to-fill-gst-payment-shortfall/9626288 An alternative to introducing new taxes would be to lift the moratorium: "The Government can gain additional revenue over time with existing taxes by setting an environment that supports expansion of the Northern Territory economic base," The Darwin Major Business Group wrote. "A candidate industry sector which would expand the economic base and be a significant source of Government revenue is the shale gas fracking industry." "Ms Manison said the consistent message from the Federal Government had been that it wanted the moratorium lifted."
So South Australia's Liberal government will be introducing a fracking moratorium in the South East. Presumably this will just increase the pressure on Gunner to lift the NT moratorium? https://www.weeklytimesnow.com.au/news/politics/south-australia-plans-clamp-on-fracking/news-story/b08f8c95e2a8671b1a58aa88cd6649e8
