Really good article that NOFEAR.
"According to the SEC, Cormark and ITG Canada caused more than 200 sale orders from a single hedge fund, to the tune of more than $660 million between August 2016 and October 2017, to be mismarked as “long” when they were, in fact, “short”—a clear violation of Regulation SHO. Cormark agreed to pay a penalty of $800,000, while ITG Canada—one of the other broker-dealers charged—agreed to pay a penalty of $200,000. "
My question is why are the fines so leniant, for the amount of wealth they knock out of thin air off the SP. Average investors are unaware of why stock prices sink, mainly due to nefarious activity (scaring people into selling) and there is very little come uppance for the bad actors. Also No compensation for the likely trillions knocked out of existence by overselling stock.
Hopefully this Gamestop SAGA will bring about some real change but we will have to wait and see.
