Exactly. When there's low liquidity the advertised spread is usally quite wide for example let's say 2.2-2.6. If you log in and put in dummy buys/sells, it'll probably be tighter in most cases. In many instances the actual spread could be something like 2.25-2.4, so a trade exectued at 2.4 bang in the middle of the advertised spread could be reported by LSE as a sell even though it's not. Happens reasonably often. Also there's a reporting delay in LSE from live trading (not surprising considering it's a free platform) so when there's a lot of volume price is quite volatile both up and down. Best way to check is dummy trading or if you have access to L2 and know what brokers are sitting on bid/ask side.
