The other side of the coin is that, if it is true as Ed is reported to have stated, someone only has to sit on the bid slightly above 18p to prevent any buyback happening at all.

This, IMO, is the correct posture to take; the company has no business leading the cheer, the news, if good, should lead to an increase in SP. Market makers will now keep a leery eye on 18p and think twice before using the lack of liquidity to raid for shares.

Lots more news expected this quarter to support. I suspect they will raise their max price in line with news quality.

No BoD is going to set out its buy back intentions in detail; it would mean open season on the share price.

it remains to be seen how the BoD are going to play this buy back. Will they front load and wait for news, as some suggest? Or will they make a push on news? There's a certain conflict of interest here, in that, for the sake of the company, it would be best to buy at the cheapest price, but on the other hand they will want to see the SP at a level they deem appropriate to the news flow. Interesting times for holders.

agree with all that, but counting chicken etc etc - let's take it step by step. Only when these things actually happen will we make big moves, IMO.

Steve, the stated intention is to get the share price to a level appropriate to the worth of our component investments. It would only take on piece of extraordinary forthcoming news - from Factom, for instance - for the buy back to have a strong following wind that could drive us to much higher levels.

Speculation of course, but perhaps management realised that the amount of money allocated and the conditions self-imposed on its use would not be sufficient to raise the share price to appropriate levels, given the expected news. Hence the vote for 25% this Tuesday.

Not a bad close considering the turmoil in the markets this week. AGM next Tuesday at 10am UK time. Should be a strong week.
