You are sounding envious - I have 'proper' money but it doesn't mean that I live a lifestyle that many try to live without 'proper' money, until the debts catch up with them.

When I had a read up many years ago it said that payments above 5% are discretionary - I didn't get a 6 % pension increase this year and I doubt whether I will get a 7-10% ? (takes Oct figure) next year, so yes until I see the evidence I regard my scheme as having a 5% cap.

My mum after recently inheriting 50% of a company pension has recently been told that a cap on increases is being reduced to just 2.5%.

Penny dropped? - don't think it has.
An amount allocated to the interim dividend will be determined at the half year based on profitability, future expected profitability and bearing in mind the policy .
A reduced number of shares from now until the amount to be distributed is determined at the half year will mean that it can be spread over fewer shares.
There is no saving.
The amount per share dividend will be influenced by the number of shares in issue at the time of the announcement.
