what a joke this is - savers are free to move cash to providers offering very good rates on savings, they are not forced to keep their money with the likes of Lloyds , who do not need to compete as much on savings rates because currently they can do without much of the depositors money.

no it's not lost - serps payments were ceased - those retiring before 2016 will get a second state pension based on Serps during their working life.
The new state pension is based on 35 years of NI contributions as opposed to the pre 2016 basic state pension of 30 years.

The majority of current pensioners will not even be getting the new state pension maximum of £185 per week let alone any historical additions.

Maybe it would be easier to allow the new maximum state pension amount to catch up with the personal allowance, at which time the future pension levels AND the personal allowance could both go up under the triple lock .

The UK state pension is already a taxable source of income when over the income allowance after adding it to other income.

The triple lock for pensions are government policy until it is altered.

There are review bodies that deal with public sector pay increases .

I had a big real terms hit to my HSBC pension based on last October's RPI figure of 14.2% against the maximum 5% that I can get.
For some reason HSBC are moving the month on which pension increases are based from October to September which is likely to have an higher inflation figure than October.
I very much hope that cpi is not 8% in September meaning that RPI would probably be 10% with the result being another bit real terms hit on my pension. Ideally for me I would never want RPI to be above 5% when my pension is set.

It would be very much a surprise if the triple lock was ditched - political suicide for the next GE. If a party has an intention to alter the triple lock then it should be within an election manifesto.The government did however have a legitimate reason to not upgrade against artificial wage increases coming out of furlough.

They purchased £2 Billion worth of Lloyds shares at about 44p.
