no - today's rally in price was from london opening, gradually increasing to near the closing price by about 9.30am.

A good increase in valuation during ADR trading in the US and held overnight due to no influences,would show as an increase in London at the following mornings open at 8.am.
The price at close in the US based on the exchange rate at this precise moment equates to a share price of 543p - below London's closing price

Yes there are some weird people on here.

Also if assets (shares) were being sold and the investors money simply being returned to them then the asset value of the fund would be reduced 4 times per year, ending each year closer to zero per share.

Current asset value is about 276p per share. Assuming no change in underlying asset values then if 12p per share of capital was returned then in a years time the asset value would be 264p, then another 12 months 252p etc etc., and of course with reducing assets comes reduced dividend income meaning that a 24p per year payout would not be sustainable quite quickly.

There will be no takeover
BP has been undervalued against US peers for years as had the UK stock market.
China opening up again.
Looking at sustained high BP profitability and ever decreasing debt levels (if they wish) for the foreseeable future, and of course good investments being made by BP with the purchase of BP shares at these low price levels

I have already pointed out that you have 90 days to transfer shares to an ISA (up to £20,000 worth) - there would not be any capital gains implications and would not count towards the yearly capital gains allowance of £6000 in 23-24.
Potential CGT would be payable on sales outside of an ISA going beyond the CGT allowance.

Capital gains should not come into it - you can put shares from a SAYE scheme into an ISA within a 90 day window without having capital gains exposure. The only limit is the yearly ISA limit of £20,000. Make sure to keep the room in an ISA for your share save scheme transfer

made an excellent investment last year - £2 Billion worth of shares bought at 44p per share

full year results coming up soon - should be satisfactory.
Minimum 1.6p in dividends.
Hoping for a £1 Billion provision to keep the price down a bit for the buyback of shares, but is likely to be no more than half of that.

of course not - people have simply saved money each month with the option to purchase shares at a fixed price at the end of a fixed period of time.

A facility I imagine would be in place for employees to be able to transfer into an ISA for a period of time without triggering capital gains.

Yes I bought for the tin labelling - I wanted to put some of my portfolio into far east stocks at the same time as getting a good yield paid quarterly.
