Lloyds have had about 8 Billion shares bought and cancelled since 2018.

If Lloyds announce another buyback of shares on Wednesday, then shares will be bought and cancelled as with previous share purchase programmes. They do not hold shares in treasury.

I sold half my shares back in 2017 for under £15, leaving the rest at an average 865p.
I am now out of the spin off 'woodside' having sold for £21 .
I don't follow BHP closely with having a low average price and being one of my less invested stocks. If that dividend is correct then that would be a lot less than last year. As we know commodities can have big swings.
Share price had a good day today - not that much back from all time high.

I worked at HSBC for over 2 decades - When I had enough money to not need employment, I gave up when I was 45. Have received an HSBC pension since I turned 50. HSBC is still just about my largest holding in my portfolio.
I have never worked for Lloyds or ever had an account with them.
My first mortgage was with the Halifax building society - now of co**** part of LBG.

No - you do not remember a LBG share price in 2003

if Lloyds did a 1 for 12 share consolidation to get the share count near that of Lloyds TSB in 2003, then Lloyds Banking Group would be about £6.10p per share.
Also the profitability of Lloyds Banking Group in 2023 will be far higher that that of Lloyds TSB in 2003

You were complaining about BP buybacks when he share price was about £3 -
The buybacks have eliminated a good percentage of shares from the market since then, with many more to come in 2023.

precisely - it seems that for many years we didn't need checks on goods coming from our 'trusted' partners, because it was assumed they would be up to our required standards (free movement of goods/people). It is now apparent that the EU had been sending all-sorts across the English Channel whilst we were a club member. We are still getting sent the people we do not want though via being waved off by the French from their coastline.

Have you plans to sell your Lloyds shares that you have never previously had the inclination to do so. If no plans, then what is the attraction for you to be a shareholder?

It would be good to see £2.5 Billion of buybacks completed for under 50p per share in 2023, but I imagine many holders not looking to hold long term would prefer that not to happen
