that will depend on each investors purchasing price, but you are correct in pointing out the level of return available at the current share price which should be at least 5.5% for the 2023 financial year. Share repurchases I imagine will not always be the main priority, especially if the valuation is nearer or above NAV, but I would certainly like to see an eventual minimum each year to counteract additional shares that employees may purchase via the SAYE scheme or given as part of remuneration.

It is UBS conducting the purchase, but unfortunately cannot buy as many as they want - there are restrictions and a limited budget.

the dividend has been raised by 20% - the market determines the value of Lloyds on a daily basis.

It will be £2 Billion - many shareholders will hope that 50p is not the upper limit to the share price, but personally would not be disappointed if it were whilst shares are being purchased by UBS.

The BOD's decided on a share repurchase policy and was endorsed by shareholders - if you are not happy with the policy then your chance to vote again comes next month with Resolution 25 - Authority to purchase ordinary shares.
The current repurchases would be under last years permission given by shareholders so should be respected .
If next months vote is also not to your satisfaction, you have a sell button. You shouldn't be invested in a situation that you are not happy with.

Based on rpi I had a real terms cut to my HSBC last year of about 8% and this year could be another 5% + - this is why reducing inflation is a top priority . Base rates should have been a lot closer to the underlying rate of inflation, meaning that base rates should have been at the 5% level several months ago. A lower than needed base rate has meant a more sticky rate of inflation. Lets hope we can see sizeable falls in the coming months.

I thought that would be obvious - how else could I have been invested for 25 years with the entities that make up LBG without having had Lloyds /tsb and or Halifax shares

I am not sure that 'everyone' is near accurate. The only person who has made about a 100 posts about it is A1. There was no argument - I stated the facts.

There was no argument - I stated the fact of a BOD with a new ceo putting forward their own ideas about how returns are made to shareholders. It appears to me to have been the correct decision - cancelling Billions of shares at low cost and at the same time progressing the dividend to now have a forward yield of 5.5% + - best of both worlds.

No one has missed out - all shareholders have had the same returns - soon to be about £7.8 Billion in the last 2 years.

I was referring to the many many posts that you recently made, moaning on and on about buybacks and wanting a higher dividend - it doesn't alter the facts. Hope you are not going to start all over again.
As I have said, the time to speculate about further buybacks/specials is a lot nearer to the time when decisions are made, and not moan when decisions are made and are being executed. There is a sell button.

Once the BOD decided on share buybacks as a policy, I would like to see as many shares as possible bought and cancelled with the allocated money - others may want the share price to go up to 70p next week. I suppose the price will depend on the 'manipulation' taking place.

I have stated the facts - it it others like yourself who are constantly moaning about it - I thought that you had turned a corner at last but apparently not, you are still disgruntled .
The facts are that the BOD's decided on making returns to shareholders by way of buybacks rather than special dividends. They also decided to progress the dividend by 20%.
The likelihood is that this will be further progressed in 2023 for hopefully a total payout of at least 2.7p.
Further to this, the BOD if capital is strong enough may decide next Feb to pay a special divi - that will be their choice. The pension situation certainly helps with regard to returns to shareholders.

It would now need a large increase in share price and quickly for UBS not to have purchased 2 Billion shares with plenty of change from £1 Billion.

2023 share buyback programme looking very good so far.

next week - a chance for investors to re evaluate their Lloyds position - buy more - sell - stick.

I cannot understand those who cannot wait to get out of Lloyds because of it being a 'donkey' etc etc but unwilling to sell at a fraction of a penny below a must have price.

I made a purchase last month at about 44p - I would certainly be contemplating further purchases below that level, if reached.
