If not bought, then it would have continued to have been rented possibly for another 50 years+ by the same people making it unavailable to rent to others and then (not sure what the rules are now) the rented property could have been passed onto a child to continue the public sector renting etc ,just as a bought property can benefit offspring.

The availability of housing has all been because of the ever increasing population.

A property doesn't get lost/disappear just because it had been bought rather than being rented. The problem has been a simple one for many many years - a never ending increase in population. No increase in population would mean that when property stock got to an adequate level then property would be available to all either to buy or rent and at not ever increasing levels of expenditure.
How high will the population get within these small British isles requiring ever more of land to be built over.

I thought you would have known the relevance of the well being of UK businesses/economy on Lloyds Banking Group

if investors have faith in UK businesses/economy with demand for shares, that can only be a good thing for Lloyds banking group

yes awful - making between 8 and 10 Billion pounds in annual profits with a forward yield of at least 5.5% and being able to afford to sort out the pension funding and able to invest Billions into Lloyds shares.

My previous average prior to SB profit was 20.49 (to 2 decimal places)

Made a profit on a Lloyds spread bet which i use to reduce the cost of remaing shares - I do not use dividends to reduce the cost of remaining shares. My average will change on share purchases and sales and profits on Lloyds SB's
