Money would be leaving the business each day from share purchases, but is counteracted by money being earned on a daily basis, which of course means that a day of buybacks does not have any material impact on the share price each day over and above normal share price movements unlike an xd day when a more significant daily sum is earmarked to leave the business.

The benefit of the buyback on the progressive dividend policy, will of course depend upon the average price paid per share. Therefore the lower the price, the greater percentage reduction in the number of shares that are eligible for a dividend on future xd days.

About 52.5p was the highest price and stayed above 50p for about the first couple of weeks. The share price was then below 50p for the rest of time, subdued by news on SVB, Credit Suisse etc.

I would prefer the 40's for the buyback, but I will not complain if the share price reaches 99p this year

how does that work?

A large volume of shares have changed hands today, obviously with more an emphasis on the buying side demand.

We could do with a bit of 'manipulation' from whoever is conducting the share buyback so that shares are purchased at 25p and not starting at 45p

It doesn't bother me what the retail shareholder ownership percentage goes down to. I will still be onboard regardless.

Must be another 4 or 5 retail investor out now just from this board. The way thing are going retail investors will soon own less than 10% of Lloyds. I will certainly not be joining the exodus

They do what they can within profitability limits to make returns to shareholders.

Many investors would be pleased to have such a high percentage return currently available to them. For some though 13%+ is not good enough so have departed.
