The RNS is classic Challenger. A non-update update about the NY Wheel, with a load more dilution thrown in for good measure. The market, predictably, is unimpressed. We now continue the embarrassing spectacle of watching the local Staten Island news website for updates on our investment in that endlessly delayed, over budget boondoggle. What a mess.

Had any thoughts about the company yet iain? Only it's been nearly six months since you last posted anything vaguely related to the share itself. Judging by your past posting history elsewhere (on all of those shares which are now either bust or suspended), you actually used to at least try to contribute something of value.

I don't disagree with that at all. However until we know the details of the proposed extension, it's difficult to guess how close the deal might be. If they're just asking for another couple of weeks, then that's a positive for sure and it suggests the deal is almost there. If they're asking for another 120 days, then it starts to look a whole lot less rosy.

Let's not forget, they were said to be in 'advanced negotiations' with American Bridge in August 2017.

Personally I think it would make more sense for Challenger to wait until the extension is confirmed before updating the market - it'd make for a pretty 'thin gruel' RNS otherwise.

From this statement - "The New York Wheel is in the process of negotiating an amendment to the settlement agreement, including extending the standstill period" - I read that we could be in for a longer wait yet. It sounds as though NY Wheel is proposing a more significant extension to the standstill period than the one announced yesterday, which gives them until next Tuesday.

I.e. They're still not ready to announce a deal yet.

You're wasting your time trying to get iain to comment on-topic. You have to go back to March to find a post of his which vaguely relates to the company - and that was about how well Star Sanctum was going.

Even in the best case scenario, more fundraising (and therefore a dilution of Challenger's stake) seems inevitable.

Given the time difference and the way that the court cases have been handled to date, it's unlikely to be a news release like you see in other shares. I.e. I'd be surprised if it was a case of 'pre-open RNS, followed by either huge buying or a massive sell off'.

It seems more likely that there will be some sort of press release by NYW and the UK market will end up finding out about it from SI Live or something similar! Keep your eyes peeled for news releases on a variety of sites over the next couple of days.

My guess (and it is just a guess) is that it won't end up being a huge event either way. As one other poster said below, some sort of extension to the deadline may end up being announced if negotiations are (somehow) ongoing. If that's the case, I doubt the sp will move much either way.

If it does have to go back to court then it'll drag on for a good while longer yet. That could bring 0.1p here, as Hammy says below. If it's back on then it'll fly. A HUGE ramping effort from the usual suspects, followed by a very volatile trading day I imagine!

Hopefully you'll all be able to read this and won't find it stuck behind a paywall. In short, there's now serious talk of a major drive to bring NHS waiting lists down by making better use of the independent sector. This could be great news for Spire.

Whether or not there will be a placing will become clear soon enough I'm sure. If there is then you won't see some of the recent arrivals here for dust. They'll be long gone. We all know exactly who I mean.

However there is a much more pressing issue to overcome first - the status of the NY Wheel contractor. Looks like it's going to run right up to the wire, with next week's deadline fast approaching. Those 'advanced negotiations' with AB have been going on for a full 12 months now and no one has put pen to paper. What's going on?
