Brand sells cars. Why buy a Lamborghini urus when you can buy an Audi equivalent ?? Mercedes doesn’t have a brand that can rival Aston Martin in the luxury sphere. Brand sells cars and we now have one of the best brand builders in the industry bringing Aston back to where it always should always have been. The top.
Looks like a Hedgefund just bought a slice of the pie. Interesting to read their website which outlines their approach to investments.
“The Company believes analysis of high-level management change provides insight into the market. When coupled with a second level screen for securities with material intrinsic value dislocations (as measured by the potential free cash flows available to equity holders under best-in-class operational management and implementation of the most efficient capital structure), this analysis yields an original pipeline of ideas. This presents the opportunity for absolute returns over a long-term investment horizon.”
British racing green would be nice but think it would lack the punch needed in F1. Aston need to start targeting young money and make the brand exciting to a larger customer base like Ferrari has always achieved. I personally like the AMR luminous green seen on the WEC GTE Astons.

I’m happy AM is now Mercedes *****. Stability investment and German leadership is all that’s needed for a UK car maker to thrive.
We’ve all needed nuts the size of watermelons this year. Fingers crossed Santa delivers us Brexit and some new trousers to accommodate.
Thanks for everyone’s thoughts, research and advice, it has kept me invested since 30/40p.
Have a brilliant Christmas and Happy New Year!
I know I always bang on about F1, but hey it’s the only news we have a guaranteed countdown to.
Interesting to see that Ferrari are moving Haas F1 team into their own compound as a means to meet budget cap requirements. Almost like loaning staff to prevent having to get rid of personnel.
Mercedes will HAVE to reduce their outfit to meet the budget cap. Will Aston be involved in a similar swap with Aston?

Times article says there are six variants of the DBX in the pipeline? I feel like this may be a miss quote, but that sounds like a lot. I’m not sure what counts as a variant either? Engine or Trim levels?
“Stroll plans to launch six variants of the DBX model”
Daimler knows now what F1 can do for a brand now. The advertising revenue alone is in the Billions. Almost transformed the Mercedes image, especially on the AMG performance car side. Mercedes have milked F1 dry and possibly the marketing effectiveness has now flatlined.
One can dream. But the Aston Martin will need more funding to make it a top two team and after all it would be in their best interest.
No Toto for us then. Signed with Mercedes for another 3 years. More interesting is Daimler have reduced their 60% ownership in the Mercedes F1 team to 30% and allowed Ineos a third ownership.
It’s also clear that Mercedes branding will be reduced and will be more focused on AMG.
Could a deal about to be done with racing point and Daimler?
Lewism if you look up the official entry list for 2021 that the teams have to submit makes for interesting reading. Albons seat is marked as TBC so Redbull are definitely looking at other options. Hamilton is listed as a named driver for Mercedes on the entry list so most likely just waiting for pen to paper. Hopefully just a one year deal so he can jump in the Aston Martin for the regs change in 2022.
Cannot beat a Goodwood motorsport event when it comes to getting close to the cars and drivers.
F1 will be great for Aston, budget cap coming in next year is significantly reduced. The big boys will no longer be able to spend their way to the top like they have been. Mercedes spent over 400 million! Racing point are used to running a tight shop and massively outperforming on a tiny budget.
The big teams will be reducing their operations whilst trying to keep performance. Racing point have said they can’t even reach the budget set for next year. Plus the Mercedes relationship will mean Aston will likely inherit much of the IP that made the Mercedes car one of the most successful in history.
Looking forward to more news!
