I agree Roger but that’s not what the royal free are saying at the moment. They have reviewed the guidance and emailed what I posted. Frustrating as I agree with you but looks like trusts are using the grey areas as an excuse not to get the test

We do not yet have an implementation plan for this test.



The initial recommendation hat this test can be used is conditional on further evidence being generated on:

• how the test affects time to antibiotics - this is extremely important for providing safe care

• how the test result affects antibiotic prescribing decisions

• the technical performance and accuracy of the test



We will need to review the NICE recommendation in collaboration with our POCT team. This is not something we can turnaround quickly. If this particular family are especially concerned then alternative antibiotics can be discussed at the time of delivery should antibiotics be indicated.



In the meantime I will continue to take this forward with our POCT team
