Seems the one reason this should go up now is because everything else seems already high up. If anyone wants to buy anything still cheap Lloyds is the most likely option. Hope to see some buying to send this up.

frustrating to see this stuck at 36-37 for so many days. Wondering what will make it past 40. Seems I’m betting on the wrong horse.

I had held Glen very long time all the way down to 120 and back. Sold at 140 some days back to buy Lloyds. Since then Glen one went up over 10% and lloyds went down by 10%. What a bad luck!

I believe most countries of the world will be able to produce vaccine by themselves if they are given the ‘know-how’ and training by those pharma companies whose vaccines have got approval. For instance, why would many developed countries buy vaccines from Pfizer when they could produce themselves with a some technology transfer from Pfizer, and just pay for the know-how. This will speed up production across the world and also help respond quickly to any mutant strain if it were to emerge later.

By when do we know for sure that SA variant is vaccine resistant or not? I read there are tests being conducted.

Seems the biggest bottleneck in vaccinations is the supply of vaccines. There is enough logistics and workforce to deliver and administer but simply not enough vaccines at the moment. It should not be too difficult to ramp up the supplies and will surely happen in near future. Companies can outsource production to various other vaccine makers.
Also heard Moderna has recommended halving the quantity of the each dose to have double the number vaccinated. I believe there may be some short term pain and volatility ahead but we’d do very well in a few months time.

Meanwhile, there could be more mutants on the way.
There are some vaccines in last stages which don’t rely on the spike protein so will work on the mutants/SA strain.
I must enrol for a course in virology to be able to trade better.

Ah..so much down when FTSE is up 2-3%. This is a real pain. Hopefully this will see a few up days now as has seen few consecutive down days.

I don’t mean the infection rates would be down in two weeks. However enough of elderly and vulnerable would have been inoculated to bring hospitalisations and fatalities curve trending downwards.

It seems to me that in another two weeks or so the effect of vaccination will be very visible in slowing hospitalisations and fatalities. This will clear lot of doubts and give us good estimate of full recovery timeline, very likely by spring.

165-170 range IMHO. News of credit facility to finance recovery in 2021 is a positive. Vaccinations gathering momentum in US, vaccine approvals in China and India are other positives to support the SP.

The worst seems to be over for the airlines. There will be pick up in bookings from here on. People expecting travel returning to normal for summer this year.

Travel and leisure stocks will do very well next year. IAG is my biggest holding (after lloyds) and am also having RR, NEX, SGC. Keenly watching TUI to get in after their RI. Am avoiding cruise and cinema as I think they may take longer to recover but surely they will do better this year.

AZ vaccine rollout will be a game changer. Hopefully this week.
