Hi Richken,
How did you hear about this? Sounds incredible!
Its an odd one - the few snippets of information I have seen are implying that the demand is weak which is why the vanadium price is "weak"
Whether this is true or not - I have no idea but the below contains an example of the snippets I have been seeing this month.
https://www.vanadiumprice.com/the-stock-analysis-of-ferrovanadium-enterprises-in-june/
https://www.vanadiumprice.com/export-prices-for-chinese-ferrovanadium-down/
As the costs have been higher than the export prices, the export market saw few transactions. Market participants predicted export prices for Chinese ferrovanadium would be weakly stable in the coming week.
Yes ggggareth - this feels like a very positive sign.
Add to this that Alfacomp said the below:
"the MVIS index no longer shows BMN as listed and so Vaneck will probably have sold another 5M yesterday, yet to be reported."
So we may actually have 25M of buys in recent days as the share price has remained stable.
Chinese vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) producers may be unable to achieve their scheduled production ramp-up plans in 2019 due to cost pressures stemming from the comparatively low V2O5 price so far this year and persistent stringent environmental inspections across the country, market sources told Fastmarkets MB.

I agree - I definitely view this in a positive light and hopefully they will be fully out with the TPEP short shut.
I also imagine this re-emphasises the strong buying pressure as they have potentially sold circa 19 million shares in the last few days and the share price has maintained well. I appreciate the share price is low compared to where this company deserves to be but still I feel it bodes well.
Hi All,
I may be reading it incorrectly but it seems to me in the last few days the Bushveld holding has reduced from circa 19 million Shares to below 5 million.
Does this explain some of the chunkier trades we have witnessed?
Hi Daisan,
Yes it appears they are holding 764350 fewer shares than the previous day.
Be interesting to see what happens once the index is reviewed.
Thank you for the response.
I will keep an eye out going forward on both the Bushveld and Largo holdings.
Hi Alfacomp / anyone else that may know,
In terms of Vaneck is there any information we can see surrounding their holdings pre 30th May?
I cannot seem to dig anything out but would be interesting to know how long they have been holding for and what amounts?
This is hugely frustrating time with the share price playing in a very specific range.
But hopefully with some of the trades the underlying seller(s) are slowly coming to an end of supply and the shorters are closing out. It is so hard to remain patient but we just have to remember the fundamentals are changing - for the better!
Thanks allthatguff
Vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB) have potential for use in grid-scale energy storage, with systems as large as 800 MWh planned and little capacity loss for over 20 years. Currently VRFB have a minimum levelised cost of electricity at $184/?MWh, which is equal to or cheaper than Li-ion.
Hi,
Just spotted this article about a University of Canterbury student winning New Zealand Postgraduate Researcher of the Year 2019 on the subject in the post title.
https://www.thechemicalengineer.com/news/university-of-canterbury-student-wins-new-zealand-postgraduate-researcher-of-the-year-2019/
Be interesting if anyone can get access to his presentation on the subject.
Thanks so much for writing this out Pdub - so much clearer than having to listen to it on repeat to get the full benefit!
Sorry attempt 2.

Hopefully this works with spaces which need removing.

Hi Alfacomp,
Thanks for sharing that - fascinating.
The article is from February - any speculation why they would have waited to RNS now? Maybe a 3 month trial period or something to ascertain everything was working and hiccup free.
Agreed. Mokopane must be relatively close - for the board to mention Vanchems proxomity to it makes it even more real! They seem exceptionally confident in regard to it.
Hi Pigpen70 - apologies was definitely not meaning to come across negatively.
Personally I was delighted with the RNS and was surprised to see the Peel Hunt take on it. Just wanted to see other peoples thoughts surrounding it, For example the high non operating costs does not really ring true to me and wanted to see if any investors had any thoughts on this as I not invested in any other miners etc so have no real context of whether this is could fairly be deemed as high.
A less positive take on the RNS quoted by Peel Hunt in the article below. Be interesting to know peoples thoughts on this?
